Here's the list..haven't seen it on here yet.
2004 All-Big 12 Volleyball First Team Name, School Melissa Elmer, Nebraska Allie Griffin, Colorado Gabby Guerre, Kansas State Valeria Hejjas, Kansas State Bethany Howden, Texas Lindsey Hunter, Missouri Laura Jones, Texas A&M Josiane Lima, Kansas Melissa Munsch, Texas A&M Sarah Pavan, Nebraska Jennifer Saleaumua, Nebraska Mira Topic, Texas Jessica Vander Kooi, Missouri *Team of 13 due to a tie in voting.
Honorable-Mention Shen Danru, Missouri Desiree Guilliard-Young, Baylor Kelly Johnson, Texas Tech Brandy Magee, Texas Lisa Martin, Kansas State Michelle Moriarty, Texas Ashley Nu’u, Colorado
Coach of the Year: Jerritt Elliott, Texas Player of the Year: Mira Topic, Texas Freshman of the Year: Sarah Pavan, Nebraska Defensive Players of the Year: Jennifer Saleaumua, Nebraska and Melissa Munsch, Texas A&M Newcomer of the Year: Dariam Acevedo, Texas Libero of the Year: Angie Lastra, Kansas State
Do not agree with the choice of Topic. . . when was this award voted on?? Did they miss the Nebraksa game last Wednesday? obviously there are better players in the Big XII...well we did get the trophy lol.
I think Nebraska got the shaft with the All-Big XII List...the No. 1 seed makes up for it, but we DID have the best Coach (if not KU's) and Libero. I think we deserved an honorable mention for Stalls, Busboom, or Houghtelling.

hmmm... really surprised Stalls wasn't on there somewhere. She had good numbers... at least for HM. And why does Texas have more all-conference performers than Nebraska?

What's "Newcomer of the Year" and why is it different than FOY?

Newcomers would allow for transfers and redshirt freshman to be honored. The FOY is just for players right out of high school.

Here's my backup stats... I can't knock Topic's overall statistical performance, but I feel her very poor performance at such an important game Wednesday at Nebraska, where she was ABSOLUTELY shut down, should have taken her out of Big XII POY contention. This year in the Big XII the Best Player was also the Best Freshman. Pavan was the difference maker in the Big XII this year. (Look at Nebraska's conference record last year with a similar team and no Pavan.)
Tracy Stalls-Blocking Big XII Rank-#3 (4 solo, 76 assists, 1.54 pg) compare to Guilliard-Young (#7, 1.35)
Dani Busboom-Assists (Nebraska ranked #2 in Team Hit. pct) Big XII Rank-#3 (13.31 pg) compare to- Guerre-#7, 11.26 pg Nu'u-#6, 11.78 pg Its unfair to award these 2 setters when Dani had similar number. Considering Nebraska leads the Big XII in blocks( by nearly a block per game)...we just needed fewer kills than them.
Amanda McCormick-Digs Big XII Rank-#1 (4.58 pg) Compare to Angie Lastra (#6, 3.97) Nebraska held opponents to a conference low .089 hitting percentage. I think our libero had something to do with that.
The Big XII Coaches must be very scared about the current dynasty Cook has going. Next year the Huskers lose nothing, and add top recruit Jordan Larson. I guess I will take this year's ignorance by the coaches considering we'll have 5 or 6 players capable of performing at All-Big XII level next year.

I guess with the rush of NCAA post-season postings, you all missed the following thread, page 2 of which is cited: volleytalk.proboards35.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1101663727&start=15

Does anyone know how the voting works? Does each coach submit nominees from his/her team that other coaches vote on? Are they limited in the number of players they can nominate?
The reason I ask is that A&M Coach Corbelli said she would have voted Pavan as POY if she had the chance, but she said John Cook did not nominate her for that. Does the POY vote have the same voting criteria as all-conference?

I saw this coming and was talking about it on another thread today. Even Kansas State got four on the list compared to Nebraska's three. I guess we just don't have any talent on our team. I can't imagine how we ever got ranked #1 at the National level and are almost bottom feeders in our own conference.
