Penn State's Nadeau Earns Final Player of the Week Award
Senior Outside Hitter Played Key Role in Clinching PSU's Outright Big Ten Title
Nov. 29, 2004
Syndie Nadeau, Penn State
SR, Outside Hitter, St. Georges, Quebec/Cegep Beauce-Appalaches
Behind Nadeau's team-leading performance this past weekend, the No. 4 Nittany Lions captured their second straight Big Ten title and their eighth in 14 years. Penn State needed to win both contests to claim the outright title and Nadeau proved to be the main factor for both of those wins.
Against Michigan State, the senior recorded a team-high 14 kills with only one error on 32 attempts to hit .406, along with recording eight digs and five blocks. After Penn State found itself down 12-4 in the third game, it was a Nadeau kill that sparked a 26-9 run to give Penn State a 30-21 win. The senior had five kills in that crucial game, including three in the final eight points. The following night at Michigan, Nadeau posted a match-high 12 kills on .375 hitting and tied her career high of 17 digs.
For the weekend, Nadeau recorded an average of 4.33 kills per game on .393 hitting, and also averaged 4.17 digs per game and 1.17 blocks per game.
Nadeau earns her second Big Ten Player of the Week award of 2004 and is the final weekly honoree of the season. On November 8, Nadeau was not only tabbed Player of the Week by the League, but also by the AVCA as she became the Nittany Lions' first-ever National Player of the Week award winner.
