Does anyone see any upsets in the first round?
I see at least one if not two - with the big name teams.

Minnesota will lose against Long Island on purpose - that way they can stake their claim that their region is the MOST difficult region of ALL the regions!!
And Utah will upset Long Beach State!!
GO BEACH !! 2014 CHAMPS BABY!!

I think Pacific has a shot at upsetting CAL, depends on what team shows up though, the one that beat LBSU and UCSB, or the one that lost to Fullerton.
Winthrop vs. Texas A&M is also a possibility.
Lastly, one result I'm sure would make Hawaii fans happy I think Purdue has a real shot at beating Colorado State. CSU has played a soft schedule, they have beaten no seeded teams, Utah is the only ranked team they have beaten. Purdue has some really good wins over Illinois and Wisconsin, but a few bad losses as well. I think this will be a good game.

I think Ohio State will LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!
Then Minnesota can win the Regional. To bad UCSB is no on the top of the bracket so they can play Minnesota for the regional final.
Go Gauchos
Go Minnesota

There are three that jump out at me...
First and foremost, you have to think Purdue, although playing on Col. State's home floor, has a serious shot at Col. State. That sub-regional is death. Four very good teams.
The second one, Pacific over Cal. That will defintely be a fun one, but again, it will be tough for Cal to get beat on their home floor.
The last one, I see Michigan giving Rice one hell of a run.
We'll see.

Hmmmm...Kansas State doesn't like the road. At all. Versus Big 12 opponents they were 7-3 at home and 6-4 on the road, which seems pretty close until you look at games won and lost: 24-12 at home in the B12 and 19-18 on the road, which is basically .500 ball. Versus tourney teams they've played on the road (opponent's home court or a neutral) they are 2-9 (games are 11-23). If CSUN can dig up the nasty comments KSU players made about them in (I think it was 1996) in the Lawrence paper and post them, this could be real interesting.

A lot of people seem to be picking Purdue over Colorado State...we'll have to see what happens with that one. As for CU vs. UH, I'd be shocked if CU won. If Santalianna (sp?) played they might have a chance, but I think she is out for the season, Hawaii barring some sort of meltdown should win fairly easily.

Winthrop vs. Texas A&M is also a possibility. . I agree...obviously I'm biased, but considering that Coach McCartney used to be an assistant in the Big XII and one of Winthrop's players (Jayna Baker) transferred to Winthrop this year after two seasons at Texas A&M, they'll know alot more about what to expect from the Aggies than the Aggies will know about Winthrop.

What in the world do 1996 comments have to do with the upcoming match 8 years later?? If they have to rely on that motivation to beat the Cats, Jeff Stork has a real motivational problem!! I guess that this might be an interesting test of the comparable strengths of a conference that sent 7 to the "dance," and a conference that sent 6 -- since each team is approximately in the middle of their respective conferences. ;D

Would Florida A&M really be an upset if they beat Florida?
