No, it's just loose. DS#2 is Dave Shondell of Purdue. He would be upset at Wise for that comment. Shoji would probably be thinking very highly of Wise after the comments she made supporting Hawaii and the idea that they should have hosted. Probably true, though I don't really think Mary's comments were meant to piss off Purdue(though it appears many took it that way, which I can understand). It was more, what exactly did they do to get in? Same for Arkansas. And what exactly did teams like Florida not do, to deserve a top 16 seed and hosting rights or why is Hawaii the 3 seed but traveling? Mary is/was frustrated and I think she singled out Purdue because it's her alma mater. I'm sure she respects Dave and the job he's done up there, but I think it's about consistency when it comes to the committee and it appears there was none. Teams got seeded with questionable resumes, others got in with questionable resumes, while others with very nice resumes got shafted, either in the seeding or by not hosting. I look across the brackets and think the committee almost used different criteria for each team and where they seeded them and what not. In some cases, it was conference finish, in others, they only looked at their good wins, in others, they only looked at their RPI, for others, they looked at head to head with tournament teams. Just no consistency whatsoever and I think that was the underlying theme to Mary's comments.

I was trying to find some info this subregional since it seems to be discussed so much on this board. I found this article in the Honolulu paper starbulletin.com/2004/11/30/sports/story3.htmlIt appears that Santillana is indeed out for the season, as is Lynsey Mann. Without these two players frankly I'd be shocked if Colorado won. The match with CSU should be a good one, but I don't dismiss the possibility of a Purdue upset.

Curious as to who is more deserving than Purdue? Duke, SWMS, NIowa, WMich, Cinci, Alabama, WKent, Kentucky, EWU? Mary also though Arkansas was undeserving so that makes me even more curious whom she had in mind. Just wondering?

Does Arkansas even have a chance?

Personally, I believe, it is pathetic for a conference to hog 7 seeds, when there are other conferences, that just get one.
Especially, when there are better teams in those conferences, who only get one, than are in the hog conferences.
Truly a sad state of affairs.

I listened to a bit of the show and you can tell that she was really upset and venting off a little frustation. Personally, I doubt most coaches will look at those comments and take it personally. Purdue knows that they were a bubble team and that there is a legitimate reason to questioning whether they should have been included or not. Along those lines, I agree that it was more demostrative of the questionable decisions the committee made.

I was looking at some other possibilities other than the hog conference teams.
Ball State 12-4 and 20-10
Montana State 10-4 and 19-8
Northeastern 11-3 and 20-11
Maine 10-4 and 17-11
Xavier 12-2 and 20-10
Miami 11-5 and 17-9
Duke 10-6 and 20-10
There are some teams in the Big Dance that lost to teams who are out of their conference with records of Conference 3-13;4-12 and Overall 12-18;13-16 records, respectively, than go hide in there conference.
Pathetic simply pathetic.

BIK, this will be Hawaii's last weekend....
I just think the Wahine's minds right now are too discombobulated to play at their highest level. I'm not saying one and done, but this will be their last weekend of play. Too much distraction, too much feeling they've been wronged (aka screwed), from players to coaching staff.
Shut up,lace up the shoes and play, Hawaii.Prove to everyone that you deserved to host. No one said life is fair. In this age of entitlement, maybe it's a good lesson for these girls. You're entitled to nothing, and nothing is guaranteed but death and paying taxes to Uncle Sam. It's probably better to learn this now than later on in life. But stop the crying for God's sake!

Kansas State versus CSUN is not about which conference is better. The Big 12 is. And UCI beating Missouri in an "upset" last year doesn't show that the Big West was better then either. It's just two teams out of two conferences.
KSU is the favorite, but what makes this match a strong upset possibily is that the Wildcats are such a different road team this season from their home stands performances. I think their hitting differential home and away in the Big 12 is something like -.146, which is real big. The percentage of games lost away in the Big 12 is just one fewer than they've won.
The early season performances of both teams at Colorado was miserable, and CSUN had the better hitting percentage (while CU hit better against CSUN).
So, do we get the Wildcats who lost two of their three last away matches (and escaped with a 3-2 win at Baylor, which was the only thing close to a win the Bears had in their last five home matches) and were 6-4 over their last 10 matches, OR do we get a devastating team with four Big 12 all stars?
And with CSUN, will we see the team that beat Pacific by a similar score to their Stanford match the night before and beat Long Beach, or will we watch the team that struggled with SMU at home and lost at home to Cal Poly and CSU Fullerton late in the season?
I think KSU could beat CSUN 7 of 10, but K-State does not typically play well on the road and CSUN wins more on the road than they lose (against generally weaker competition than KSU's).
But if KSU goes mental on the road and CSUN plays as they did at Long Beach and Pacific...

CSUN Has more wins on the road then at home... I think they can sweep Kansas!!! Then USC can sweep CSUN...

Screw's loose. Hawaii is prep'ng for CSU. Tom is even more pissed than Dave and is focusing on Hawaii. PEIU is simply gunning for Hawaii and not worrying about 2nd round. Dave(DS#2) just wants a post season victory and ticked that Mary thinks his bad losses should have kept him out, completely ignoring his teams strong wins. OK, so it probably won't happen but more bizarre things have happened this year... I wouldn't be surprised by much from here on out. Can you all post the link to the article you guys are talking about where Shondell says he is ticked that Mary thinks his bad losses should've kept him out of the tournament? I'd like to see those comments. Thanks.

CSUN is a very good team on the road with the exception of the Irvine Match (the 5th game in particular). They tend to play to the level of the team the are playing which hurt them with some of the lower teams in their conf. but good for good teams. Another advantage to CSUN is that every player but 2 on the court tonight has been in this exact situation before, since they played at USC first round last year. Grated they lost that match, but that was the first time most of those players had experienced that. Now they are back, know exactly what to expect and don't want a repeat of last year. If anything CSUN is going to come out fighting. I say CSUN over K State in 4!!

CSUN has also already avenged their first round loss last year by beating LMU in 5 on their home floor, last tuesday, handing them only their 3rd loss at home for the season. This is a great boost for CSUN and i hope they can carry into their match tonight.
