**UPSET WATCH**
Moscow goes up 2-1, 25-23 in set 3, after Lonneke hits it out.
Maja doing a good job of getting the other Moscow hitters (especially the middles) involved just enough to keep the pressure off of Gonch.
Lonneke getting lots of sets, Zhu struggling a bit with the RS block of Gonch, and K-Rob and Rasic essentially non-factors.

Ognjenovic is a beast. That is the difference right now. Vakifbank passing better, Dinamo blocking better. What I love about Vakifbank is that at least one of their 3 pins is terminal when the others are struggling. Not a good match for Zhu Ting so far. Goncharova is so deadly. That goofy footed approach creates tons of odd angles that the opposing defense isn’t able to dig. So far a nervous performance from Vakifbank.

I wonder if having Rasic on the bench most of the regular season due to the foreigner quota is why she isn’t playing at her usual level?

These refs really aren't doing Moscow any favors in the 4th.

Wow. At 10-7 I thought Vakifbank had it in the bag.
Good job Dinamo on a 3-2 victory.
Ognjenovic and Goncharova MVP.

Larson is so clutch.
Keeping Ecz in this 2nd set with kill after kill. Tied at 25.

Eczacibasi up 2-0, after taking the 2nd 27-25. A shank SR from Sylla and two kills from Tijana ends the set.

Someone said it already. I don’t think there is a trio of pin hitters better than Larson, KYK and Boskovic right now. If Eczacibasi only had a better setter they would be even more dominant.
As for Conegliano. They didn’t play well today. I think I would have benched Folie and Sylla earlier and brought in Tirozzi and Danesi then instead of when their backs were against the wall.
Hill had an awful match offensively which is her usual M.O. in high pressure matches. The only reason she didn’t lose her spot on court was because Sylla doesn’t play as good of defense and her serve is abysmal.
Lowe in for Fabris too was a stupid decision as she was cold coming off the bench and it took her a while to get into the match. Fabris wasn’t even playing badly.
All in all TOO MANY UNFORCED ERRORS by Hill and Wolosz trying to force the middles when the first contact wasn’t consistently good.
Akoz proving she is well on her way to being one of the best Liberos in the buisness. Eczacibasi’s defense was insane. Even Gibbemeyer was playing well.
Larson is still a must have player well worth her rediculous salary IMO.

Either gonna have a Novara vs. Eczacibasi final or an all Turkish derby with Vakifbank vs Eczacibasi.
Either way some great games ahead.
Conegliano would have to sweep Eczacibasi next week AND take a golden set to advance. It’s not impossible but it’s not likely.
As for Vakifbank....if Ozbay keeps her head level they should best Dinamo Moscow next week but as I witnessed today....her setting wasn’t consistent and her choices were bad resulting in lots of stuffs for DM. Add to that Ognjenovic just needs Goncharova to be firing for them to be a threat.
Good matches today!

My prediction for semis: Novara vs Vakifbank, Eczacibasi vs Fenerbahce Final: Vakifbank vs Eczacibasi

As you guys can see. Both Larson (35%) Hill (26%) Robbinson (39%) were very weak offensively. And this is the reason Team USA can`t win and not because of the fast system.
And is always the same thing... They play well in regular season and games that does not matter...but whenever there`s something on the line they play like this.
So don`t expect Team USA to win Gold in Tokyo....not because of the fast system, but simply because the players "are not that great" or shall we say there`s other players out there better than them.

The reason Team USA can't win is because Larson was very weak offensively, even though Larson won today? Your argument defeats itself, kiddo.
