it’s a little harder for East Coast coaches to recruit elite talent from their own backyard. Definitely see a lot more foreign recruitment over there. Depends on the school. Not ACC, but Rutgers has 9 out of 12, likely a connection to their assistant coach though. Hofstra’s 1/2 their team. Personally, I am against this. 'This' being more than 1 out of every 9 kids on team being from outside the U.S. There are already limited playing opportunities at the collegiate level, even fewer are the number of scholarships. When 25-50-75% of a team is made up of non-US, then American girls (many of whom spent years playing and thousands of dollars) are having their opportunities reduced. I understand wanting to find high quality foreign players & of course wanting to win but there should be a max 3 limit. Jmo of course. They should count for 2 scholarships instead of 1.

Not sure what piqued your interest but with Erica Kostelac on the transfer list, Cincy doesn’t have a junior class left based on their roster. Their superplayer Jordan Thompson is a redshirt junior so I guess that counts. Many foreign players on roster. Is that a growing trend?

Looks like Xavier might be the next school with the mass exodus They lost two last year and three this year. Something wrong with the coaching staff if this is happening.

Reduced playing opportunities for American girls is certainly a legitimate concern. Look at what Title IX did to opportunities for male wrestlers, gymnasts and fencers. These guys devote thousands of dollars and training hours to their sport with little opportunity for a scholarship, certainly not a full scholarship.

Half of the Pittsburg and Syracuse team are European. Only 2 players on the Pitt team are European. Just maddening when folks post stuff they are clueless about!

What? Pitt has two players from Europe... Syracuse is a reflection of the coach. He recruited the same way at his previous school(s). Other than that there are just a handful of European players in the ACC. I was just pointing out the 2 schools known for it which are in the acc. Pitt has previously had more this year there is less. They rely on foreign players as the two best players are the two Europeans. Still proud of your ignorance I see. I bet you have never seen Pitt play and could not pick out any of their players if they smacked you on the head. SMDH.

Don't many countries with pro-volleyball leagues (Japan, Russia, Turkey, Italy) severely limit the number of foreign players allowed?

She was the starter at the end of the season...I am a little confused as to why she is transferring? Sealy plays too many games with his setters.

Almost every single D1 school sponsors women's volleyball. Fewer scholarships or playing time isn't really a pressing issue. Most of the schools that have a high percentage of foreign players are using it as shortcut to leap frog in competitiveness. If they're successful, in theory, that would allow them to attract better domestic recruits.
