I wonder if she'll get any playing time since Gabby Blossom (I assume) will be the starting setter in 2019. While not quite Allison or Miller, I love how the B1G guns graduate setters and immediately get transfers. I’d hate the B1G if I wasn’t already a fan. if you go to the big 10 as a setter youll be replaced by a transfer?

Wonder if we will be seeing anyone bigger than Allison Transferring? I assume as of now, she was the most high profile one.

Just wondering is this new transfer rule a good thing for the sport of volleyball? Seems like it will be hard for a coach to really know what he or she has coming back the next year. The time training a player to be a key contributor on the team after the girl in front of her graduates might be a thing of the past girls are ready to transfer so quick now. How can you have team chemistry when someone comes in and takes the place of someone already in line to play the next year? It’s a never ending cycle for the transferring player now. Just a few random thoughts

Just a few random thoughts I don’t think the new rule really makes it any easier or harder to transfer. Just changes the process a bit. If anything, it’s now MORE difficult to find out where you can get a scholarship before telling your old school that you’re leaving.

So... Gwyn Jones from Auburn is on the list as well now (as of 12/20). Hmmm, Auburn is graduating their best offensive player (Mcllroy), just lost their setter to Illinois (Allison), and now their 2nd best offensive player is transferring. Something just isn't right in War Eagle land. Jones is a Senior next year and from Indiana so this could be a "going home for Senior year" thing (not wanting to go through another rebuilding year can be a motivator as well).
They still have young pins (Rowland & Shipes) and strong Middles (Stevenson & White)... but I have to believe they are all a bit uneasy without having a setter in place.

I am wondering if things start to get really busy after the start of the new semester (once the scholarship is secured). I do think it's easier but not necessarily better...the risks are different.

I am wondering if things start to get really busy after the start of the new semester (once the scholarship is secured). I do think it's easier but not necessarily better...the risks are different. I think the new rules will definitely change how coaches recruit and players choose schools. I can see a scenario where a top recruit wants to go to school A. However, her position is blocked by an entrenched Senior. So, instead of red shirting, or playing behind the Senior with no game action, they go to school B where they can instantly start and get full time action. Then, after that year, they transfer... with no muss/no fuss (Poulter/Allison is a perfect example).
Maybe there is even a discussion between the player and the coach during the recruitment process. I'm sure no one would admit it though. This could be a win/win scenario.
Also... I now see the end of season through Spring being a "free agency" period - bring on the "Hot Stove"...!
