Chang might wanna finally play her last year. I think she’s come in to serve maybe once in 4 years. She hasn’t played really in a match since high school. I see her going to a smaller school where she can play My thoughts exactly. Girl isn't going to transfer from Stanford to be a backup for her fifth year...like what sense does that make??? It might make sense because she can focus more on graduate study as opposed to volleyball and the pressure of being starting setter.

If they're going to take her on as a grad transfer, they are going to want some impact from her right away. I don't think schools typically take grad transfers to sit them on the bench. That wouldn't make a lot of sense.

That wouldn't make a lot of sense. It's not usual for schools to recruit for a back-up setter. In Hawaii's case, it is doubtful that Payton Chang would make an immediate impact because Norene Iosia is projected to be the starting setter and there is almost no chance that a highly-regarded setter would come in and unseat Iosia. Therefore, Coach Robyn might have to assume that another setter that she recruits would have limited playing time. Take for example Nebraska, they had setter Hunter Atherton transfer out and only had Nicklin Hames to set. Nebraska recruited 2 transfer setters in Mari Kurkova and Brooke Smith. Neither of them are receiving significant playing time and making an impact right away. Hawaii might be another example, Faith Ma'afala was recruited and projected to be the back up setter to Iosia.

I think a better option for UH is to get a transfer, JC or one with more than 1 year to play. One year to back up Noreen and another year to potentially start if incoming setter Kate Lang is not ready.
One and done setter is not going to work IMHO. It’s take a while to gel with your teammates and one year is not enough time to work with your teammates. Waste of a spot on the roster.

according to Texas thread, Luketic is no longer on the UT roster. She's still on the roster, but left for Croatia about 10 days ago and will not be returning for remainder of season. What happned there? No more playing time=time to go home?

I would not kind seeing Allison go to Minnesota! However I see her going home to Illinois. That would be pretty big for Illinois

Does anyone think that Ashley Shook from Texas will eventually transfer?

Does anyone think that Ashley Shook from Texas will eventually transfer? I think if she wants to play she will. Maybe she enjoys Texas and the girls and the team and still wants to be in the program on the court or not. But of shook wants to play in matches then she will have to transfer. She and Gabriel will battle for the spot next year but the committ will beat them both out as a freshman. Shook will have no chance her senior year playing but maybe time next year, I still think Gabriel will beat her out.

Naomi Cabello, 2020 from FL I don't know honestly. I'm worried she's not as quick to the ball in the same way that people have issues with Shook.

I've been tracking her since she committed and watched videos of her during tryouts for the GJNT. I thought the OP was referencing someone else for 2019.
