If you wanted an example of writing that was the opposite of pedantic, boof's would be it.
Word salad.

Notes about Point Wisconsin (There is a lot of general coach talk early on from Dildine, with some nuggets, but it gets really interesting when she talks about the recruits.)
Haggerty: Molly really turned on a switch in 3rd after getting blocked. Led the team. Loberg hit well too. Haggerty and Loberg are really stepping up, not only in hitting, but also when they stay in at the end because subs run out, they are holding their own.
Gophers: Arias says that feels like the biggest win of season, Dildine agrees it was a big step forward because they performed confidently when the chips were down. Even when they had service errors they stayed aggressive and didn't have passive service errors
MSU: The team does much better being grounded in the present, will be tough because gopher match was so exhausting, but focus is on MSU now [In retrospect, it was a problem for some players. Hopefully a learning opportunity!]
Service errors: Arias asks about targets for SEs. Dildine says >90% serves in [not used to such a concrete answer]. They also worry about service errors, but Minnie has a huge difference in attacking numbers in system vs OOS, so they have to get them OOS
Sydney: Crushed her assists record by 16, tied the ALL TIME record for a 4 set match, regardless of rally scoring or not. Dildine thinks she studies opposing defense better than anyone in the country.
Prospects: Dildine emphasizes that they are all daughters of coaches. All next years recruits committed in the freshman/sophmore year.
Jade Demps: Committed when she was 15. Development skyrocketed between Junior and Senior levels. Got much stronger in that time, a lot of muscle development. She has had to earn everything. Great in classroom. Curious about in and outs and whys and ifs of game. Obviously she will bring offense. Her block takes up space. She has played on the right. Will have to work on the 6 rotation role, as do all players at this level. She is a workhorse and is aggressive on the court, but she makes people laugh and feel good.
Hammill: Really high vball IQ, like Demps. The story is that her mother had to hide the gym keys from her to keep her from over practicing (!). Was a big fan of badgers when she was watching Carlini. That's a real change - now vball is on TV and kids get exposed to teams from that. It really raises the understanding of players like Hammill. Brings energy, student of the game, she will be able to set advanced systems. Will have the luxury of having Syd and Izzy around in her first year.
Effect of past players: Arias notes that players like Carlini and Rettke have a big affect on future players. Dildine: the players really take that seriously. They want to inspire people for how to play. They want what they do to be important to others, because it's important to them.
Robinson: Will be great. Father coaches Iowa state bball. Family friends with Howard Moore(!). They had second thoughts about her at first after she contacted UW. Kelly challenged her "I gotta see more." She didn't have much of a voice or presence, she was shy although a big personality. She left that visit and called back a few months later and said "So I've ponied up here. I've taken my game to another level. What do you think?" This really really impressed Dildine with her commitment to UW. Very unusual for a HS player. She has done similar things repeatedly in her career. She has since worked up to the point where she is now starting for the youth USNWT that won gold. Very strong in the upper body, puts up a serious tenacious block. She can attack from one and two feet. Can attack from the right.
Feels recruits are totally committed to the badgers way and to UW, and thinks they will hit the ground running.

So we should make it easier for the two teams with the most championships in the conference but not the others? This is boofs general volleyball world view, if you have followed his posts at all (and, I know, it's not always easy). It colors almost everything he writes. He argues repeatedly, sometimes explicitly, for an aristocracy in the B1G that includes only Nebraska and PSU - in his opinion, the only programs in the B1G with the pedigree to deserve being mentioned in the same breath. Any other order is an aberration. It's the only "justification" one can raise to support the idea of PSU and Neb as travel partners. I'm not sure why he would think his argument would receive a hearing in this thread. I'd be inclined to think he's engaging in some kind of subtle trolling - except that the union of the sets "subtle" and "boof-ish" is typically non-existent. But maybe when the trolling seems subtle, it's just boof being unaware of how crazy his assumptions are. I never said those were only two programs that matter, but since you want to bring it up I’ll say this. In volleyball, that conference would be mediocre at best without those two programs.

I noticed that these players were all coaches' kids. It made me confident that they understand the work ethic and mindset required to be successful at Wisconsin, and they will have solid family support.

badgerbreath thank you for digesting these. I don't have the patience to sit through the coach speak before the real stuff begins.

Boof, iwll rite this like u talk gobck 2 you're own thred. Say hi to @nyline while your their. (As an English major, that was very hard to type). I see everything that’s wrong there, but when I’m writing on the forum I could care less as long as my point is understood regardless of spelling. It’s a forum not a important document, but yes I will go back to own forum. Hadn’t jumped in this one all year and needed to Atleast once. I have goals set at beginning of season. That one can be checked off now.

In former Badger news, Loyola-Chicago, coached by 2008 alumna Amanda Berkley, is the #2 seed in the MVC conference tournament, with a record of 13-3. She's really made a huge turnaround in just 2 or 3 seasons. The conference tourney starts Thursday 11/28, with Loyola with a bye, playing the 3/6 winner on Friday 11/29. It's at UNI campus.
If the Ramblers win the tournament, they might have shot at being sent to Madison.

Hopefully that goes better for Loyola than last time, I can still hear that setter laying on the ground as she reinjured her leg after just getting back from the same injury. A lot of Wisconsin girls on their roster as well, would be great to see them play in the state again.

In 2017 they were 5-24. Now with the same amounts of matches played, they are 20-9. Conference losses are ISU x2 and UNI. There are 7 Wisconsin kids on the roster.
