Any alumni playing? Looks like Khat Bell, Cat McCoy, Kat Brooks, Ebony and Mirta are there. Anyone else? Are they playing or just in attendance?

Phillips vs O'Neal is the dynamic I'm curious about. Anyone watching let me know how they look comparatively if I’m honest, O’neal Gets lost in the mix to me. She’s had some good blocks, but doesn’t seem dynamic on offense yet. I’m impressed by Phillips so far. Steady player, does the fundamentals well. Would love to see her hit with Jhenna setting.

Hate so see anyone injured this early in the season. The last thing Shook needed was to lose reps.

Eager to hear some different opinions after seeing the players in action. Here are my first reactions: -starting lineup to begin the season will likely be what’s already been predicted. Logan, Micaya, Skylar, Bri, O’Neal, and Peterson. -Logan got some time in the backrow which was good. I forsee her getting backrow reps as much as possible until she starts to struggle. Passing was pretty solid, but defense needed some work. - Hahn impresses more than usual today, as did Rounsaville. Both playing like seniors - Shook is injured, so no knew info on the setter position just yet. Will be interesting, with the tough schedule to start how many reps Shook can finagle her way into. For now, I’m predicted Jhenna starts, Shook injury aside. -if Skylar Fields plays at this level consistently this year, she will won national freshman of the year. She’s very very good. -O’Neal is the starter apparent, but Molly is just behind her. I see this being the battle of the year, with both showing bright spots and room for improvement. Should be interesting.

Just went to the game. Here’s some of my thoughts: Jhenna set well and played strong defense. Her connection with Brionne was improved on the 1 but needs some work with some of their varied sets. Really liked the back row attacks from Logan and Micaya, especially the “white” behind the setter. Skylar was very good, hitting .647 with no errors for the match. Blocking was all around very good for Texas. Molly is an extremely good blocker, but her offense leaves room for improvement - didn’t hate her hitting in front of the setter though. Personally, I would pick Molly over Asjia based solely on how impressive her blocking was - after all, the position is called middle blocker not middle hitter and we have enough firepower around her. Micaya’s serve improved!! She made most of them and caused a lot of trouble. Logan’s serve and all-around play was impressive. I didn’t notice Autumn and Claire... which is good! Means they were doing their job. I’d put Jhenna, Brionne, and Micaya in the front row together. And then Skylar, Molly, and Logan together. This is the best I’ve seen Texas play in a scrimmage in a while.

Thoughts on the Scrimmage today. -GREAT TO SEE THE Kh(C)ats today. There was one rotation where they were in a passing formation and so nostalgic and weird to see Khat pass. -I can't really say much about improvement on passing but the fact that there wasn't a lot of bad passing on our starters is a good sign. Logan will either be 6 rotation this year or next year. Micaya is solid as always and projection to be player of the year in the BIG 12 is very likely. She has calm presence on the court. -Clair and Autumn passing was not as troublesome so that's good? I just think that they just stuck in a plateau and it's sad. Hope these two littles prove me wrong. -Skylar reminds me of Yazzie but quicker and more disciplined and she's only a freshman. Can't wait to see her progression. She is the future of Texas Volleyball at this point. -Logan and Micaya are solid options. We haven't had a good tandem at OH since FOREVER. Last year, I was worried since I wasn't sure how Logan was going to adapt. Logan still has weird instances where she tries so much on some free balls and Texas just had to reset and she tried too much and that's a very immature player to do. -Brionne is just unstoppable if you give her the right set (about 3 out 5). SHE NEEDS TO GO OFF this year. -Jhenna is a little timid and slightly not as good as I think she should be. Last year, she knew she was the second option for setting and had to FIGHT FOR IT but this year she had a bigger chance and maybe her fight wasn't as big as last year. Hope she proves me wrong. -Shook...please shock as this year and prove us wrong. -Petersyn is more confident and I love it. She's more vocal and it showed in huddles.
TEXAS!!!!!!!

it pleases me that y'all are feeling positive. Positive, yes. Is it going to be an easy season? No. The points the ‘starters’ gave up were on poor communication and mental errors, especially the younger players. I agree with the above poster about Jhenna. She’s solid, but had some head scratcher moments, especially with Brionne. It’s early days, but the tests come early. This team has a lot of upside, and if they play to the potential they showed today consistently, they’ll be fine.

at the same time, many of you (apparently) disagree. i am perfectly happy being the outlier and being wrong. i hope i'm wrong
i do think that it is not good that ashley is in a boot. need everyone ready to rock to make this work

If Shook is healthy, is the whole team good enough for a 6-2 or 5-2 line up?
