I know this was a scrimmage, and it’s intended to get the nerves out before the first actual match. The play clearly got better throughout. This is not a top 4 team in the country now, and they won’t be at the end of the season. Jhenna still looks like a sub setter. Connections were terrible with the middles even for the beginning of the season. The pins were good, so they probably get them to the Elite 8. I see a repeat of last year. They won’t host because they’re going to lose at least 2 if not three matches in the first five, and it’s hard to see them go through conference undefeated. TCU or Baylor will get them once. Will be very interesting next year once Naomi gets there. That will be a top 4 team. Have you already seen their first five opponents play this season? SMFH

Guess scrimmaging LSU next weekend is the reason we held the annual Orange-White scrimmage match one week earlier than normal:
Notes: Junior setter Ashley Shook sat out Saturday’s scrimmage with an ankle injury. Elliott was hopeful that Shook can return by UT’s first match. … Texas will scrimmage LSU in Houston next weekend. …

That’s a weird thing to say. If she’s not in the starting line now, and IF she doesn’t make it in, why specifically use her to burn a year where she won’t be a full contributor. I’m not saying they won’t use her. I think they probably will. But that rationale doesn’t make sense, unless he’s already planned on rotating them based on match-ups.

Neither Minnesota or Stanford have had their scrimmages yet. Did you waltz into their practices? Or you gathered everything you need to know from Instagram stories? Genuinely curious.
Re: Phillips. It doesn’t make any sense for her red shirt this year if she doesn’t plan to red shirt next year either- she’d be in the same boat until Butler graduates, and red shirting her implies neither middle or right side will struggle all season? I see her getting some real play time in a couple different possible scenarios.

The tall person speaks the truth. It's not his fault it hurts.

No one said Texas won’t potentially lose to Stanford or Minnesota. I’m just curious how he’s already seen them play this season. At this point, everyone is speculating, so there’s no truth that hurts. Just theories. Time will tell if the tall person is in fact right.

I just don’t get the idea of saying she won’t redshirt when she’s not in the starting lineup now at the beginning of the season? What if they go undefeated and there’s no need to make a lineup change? Anything could happen.

Everyone knows what Stanford looks like, and they’re much further along as a team than Texas. Minnesota needs a setter, but anyone they throw out there is going to be better than Texas’ setters.

Have you already seen their first five opponents play this season? SMFH Stanford and Minnesota. They won’t beat either one. What a travesty! Losing at the pre-season #1 team and defending national champion; and, losing to another pre-season Top 5 team. THAT NEVER HAPPENS! I bet not a single poster who predicted Texas' win/loss record PRIOR to this scrimmage counted these two matches as losses; you for sure are the first.
If you are gonna provide "analysis" on Texas, at least try to be objective on your comparison data.

My objective analysis puts them at 2 losses. If they had played better in the scrimmage, I’d say they’d have a chance to beat Minnesota. They have two many weaknesses, and I don’t think there’s any way they do. They aren’t a top 5 team. If they were, they’d be somewhat able to compete with MN and Stanford. At this point, I’d be genuinely surprised if they win a set against either.

If not, your analysis is clearly flawed.
