Chill out. I never said anything about Yazzie not working extremely hard and her development as a middle. Nor did I downplay how Logan competed last year who did a great job at such a young age. I'm talking about Elliot's ability to train players to compete both back row and front row. It's my belief that it's a detriment to any team to DS both an outside and an opposite at the same time. I'm relating this to the hopeful development of Skylar and that she doesn't just come in front row. For instance, if Kelsie Payne played for Texas last year as the starting opposite, you really think she would of played backrow instead of Hahn? She would of been on the bench, but Kansas played her and she was a viable back row attack. If Kelsie chose to play at Texas, I bet the idea of her playing backrow would be complete 'idiocy' as so elegantly and smugly stated by sportybucky. Some of these Texas girls go on to play internationally and totally unprepared as their foundation for all around play is far inferior. Players like Bailey Webster, Haley Eckerman, Khat Bell, Juliann Faucette, etc who are all amazing players and did an amazing job while at Texas, but it's my belief their ability to serve receive/play defense was not a priority to Jerrit and in the long run hurt them in international play.

After seeing Logan pass at the first scrimmage I expect that we start with her playing 6 rotations and have Rounsaville come in to relieve her if necessary (similar to Dalton with Eckerman in 2012).

If both Eggleston/White are 6-ro and FIelds is DS’ed after her serve, does Hahn or Rounsaville win the DS role?

Your best guess for Texas Projected Starting lineup with D/S subs, etc? OH: Eggleston/White MB: Butler/Phillips OPP: Fields S: Shook (front row)/Gabriel (back row) *probably the main question mark L: Peterson DS: Hahn for Fields/Rounsaville for Eggleston (if needed) However, would like to see the 6-2 at some point: OH: Eggleston/White MB: Butler/Phillips OPP: Fields/O'Neal S: Shook/Gabriel L: Peterson DS: Rounsaville for Eggleston (if needed)

Hahn has a better serve (which won’t matter if Skylar serves), but I prefer Autumn’s floor defense.

Fields has some work to do before she’s ready to play backrow. She often needed a DS throughout her high school season as she wasn’t the greatest passer. I wouldn’t say she’s incapable of being 6-rotations because she could definitely work for it but Hahn and Rounsaville are probably better options as seniors this season.

Skylar has a great serve and Rounsaville’s serve is more of an adventure than Micaya’s😂. That being said, Hahn has more experience playing right back.

Watched the replay of the scrimmage. Paul Sunderland commented that in talking with Coach Elliott, he mentioned that Texas could play some 6-2 this season. He and Salima discussed that as they watched Molly Phillips taking some swings from the right side in the final set.
