The setters have not been told whether Illinois will go with a 5-1 or a 6-2. I think they are going to let it shake itself out. The players will determine it. Not just the setters but how to fit the top hitters on the court.

Not just the setters but how to fit the top hitters on the court. Thanks for the scoop! I suppose we'll have to exercise patience this summer and wait for it all to get sorted when the coached practices start back up- that must be sometime in mid-August, right? I'm looking forward to seeing all the new Illini on the court and watching potential position battles play out. In the interim, we'll see if any more transfers in/out happen (it was mentioned earlier on here that signs point to Emmaline Walters transferring out) and wait for the full schedule to be released.

I’m excited for the upcoming season. This team has returning players and a whole bunch of X-factors. People are going to underestimate us. Big mistake!

ILLINOIS recruit Raina Terry and her Mintonette team won the 17 OPEN at the JVA Summerfest. They are the No. 1 ranked 17's team in the nation.

I don't think we're going to fly under anyone's radar. I think people are expecting us to be mediocre without JP running the show. She was definitely a force multiplier, but I don't think teams take the staff lightly and their ability to get the Illini ready to compete. I can see how teams overlooked us in the past when Hambly would be slow to change or adapt to the personnel he had available. We know Tamas is willing to take those risks and make those adjustments and so do they. Fans will underestimate us, but that always happens.

Beth Prince, Sportsmanship Award Winner for the B1G Volleyball coach Chris Tamas on Prince: "Beth completely embodies the Illini spirit. She is a leader on our team both on and off the court. On the court, she was a key member and leader on a historic Illini volleyball team. Off the court, she is a leader amongst her peers in both academics and community service. Beth represents the University of Illinois, Illinois athletics and the Illini volleyball program as best as anyone I have seen." One member of each varsity sports team on every campus was chosen by his or her institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree, and two Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners were then selected from each institution. All of the Sportsmanship Award winners have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, these honorees must be in good academic standing and must have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. fightingillini.com/news/2019/6/4/general-craan-prince-earn-big-ten-outstanding-sportsmanship-honors.aspxbigten.org/news/2019/6/5/general-outstanding-sportsmanship-award-winners.aspx

Great for Prince.
If Prince holds on to her job on the left, where does Bruna play? Going to be interesting.

We'll have to see if Beth's shoulder holds up.

From the 2019 Schedules and Important Dates thread:
Illinois plays a "home and home" against University of Tennessee, possibly to begin the regular season. Friday, August 30 at Tennessee and then Sunday, September 1 at Huff Hall.

Summer school starts today. Do we know if all of the recruits made it to campus?
