I know everyone is really excited about Davis, but I think it's pretty clear from this article and the below quote from Cook that her Red-White performance may be a little bit of an outlier.

Not like Jazz was consistent last year lol. I still want to see Jazz play but we need someone to step up this year and if she's still the same as last year then give Capri a chance.

Jazz hit .205 on the year last year (her #s went up in the tournament, I believe she was at sub .200 pre-tourney), and Capri hit .171, if we're going to bring up last year's "consistency." I think Jazz's freshman year should hold just as much weight as speaking to her potential as a single scrimmage by Capri... I don't disagree that if Jazz is struggling again we need to move things around, but I just think posters are putting too much weight into a single scrimmage performance. Especially since Cook is seemingly indicating it was not a typical performance from her.

A couple of people have mentioned Davis wasn’t standing out until very, very recently. So we don’t know if she can carry that high level of play for an extended period of time

hailvarsity.com/s/7537/the-lo-down-who-what-to-watch-for-this-nebraska-volleyball-season"That brings me to the right-side debate. Last year we saw Nebraska struggle in a couple rotations, the worst being rotation one. Why you ask? Well, Jazz Sweet (the current right side) has to pull back and pass at times in rotation one and then has to attack on the left side. One of the most difficult things to perfect is a left-handed player attacking from the left side. Not only does the set have to be perfect, but the attacker has to be lined up perfectly. This is why you hardly ever see left handed players on the left side. With that being said, Nebraska had a hard time getting out of this rotation. This is also why we saw Capri come in for Jazz for a rotation last year. My solution here would be to put Capri on the right side." "I know it is risky, since she hasn’t played on the right consistently, but she is one of the best blockers on the team, so you would have her blocking against opposing team’s outside attackers. She can put the ball away on the right, we saw it last year in matches and I have already seen it in practices this year. She also would solve the problem in rotation one by not having a lefty on the left side. Bottom line though, we all saw her performance in the scrimmage on Saturday, so the Huskers need to find a way to get her on the court."

I agree that the posters are putting too much weight on a scrimmage (including me) but we lost a lot of our offense from Foecke. If we want to be successful this year we can't have a RS hitting .205 and consistently getting roofed. Capri hitting .171 last year wasn't that bad especially because she was only in on one rotation where Jazz struggled all through out the season. It's also tough coming off the bench just to make a kill.

Also I'm not just talking about Capri if she can't get it done too then maybe try Zuhn as RS? We have a lot of options this year.

Interesting to hear how she came up with this conclusion. Also in one sentence she says its risky because she hasn't consistently played on the right and then she goes on to say "she can put the ball away on the right, we saw it last year" (which we didn't)

Quoting a reporter who says that Saturday's scrimmage means we should find a way to get her on the floor, doesn't strengthen your claim that Saturday's scrimmage means we should find a way to get her on the floor. Side note: there were also several situations in which Capri got subbed back out for Jazz because she was struggling on the left too. That's conveniently left out.

Didn't mean for it to be a "response" to anything. The article hadn't been posted here yet. I posted it. The "reporter" is Cook's daughter.

Jazz isnt performing well in practice.... it's just not ideal
....if they want to reach 29029 feet this season. They may need to take some turns and try stuff out.
Capri is ready to try and help her team. Jazz knows what's expected of her.... after conversations today. Cook is indeed considering Davis as a RS option.
Time will tell. In terms of who plays RS on Friday, I would think it's still a toss. But Cook is on the same page lots of us are. Davis didnt just have a nice scrimmage match, she WENT OFF. girl can play and be terminal. I've been stating consistency issues with her all fall camp. But shes never been struggling getting her kills or blocking. Shes been struggling with serve, passing and back court defense..... she could be big for her team at 3 rotations across the net. She is ready for that...

It makes a lot more sense to play Sun on the right and Davis on the left if Davis does play. Sun has shown that she's a capable attacker on the right and has shown some good blocking ability. Davis has shown nothing on the right, whether offense or defense, in a real match and is a riskier alternative.
