Not like Jazz was consistent last year lol. I still want to see Jazz play but we need someone to step up this year and if she's still the same as last year then give Capri a chance. Why the "lol?" Jazz hit .205 on the year last year (her #s went up in the tournament, I believe she was at sub .200 pre-tourney), and Capri hit .171, if we're going to bring up last year's "consistency." I think Jazz's freshman year should hold just as much weight as speaking to her potential as a single scrimmage by Capri... I don't disagree that if Jazz is struggling again we need to move things around, but I just think posters are putting too much weight into a single scrimmage performance. Especially since Cook is seemingly indicating it was not a typical performance from her. That's not what he said. She is typically great offensively. He was alluding to her issues with other facets of her game. Passing. Serving, defense. If she wants to play 6, she is inconsistent. If she wants to play 3. She is likely ready.

Time will tell, but it appears to be a brilliant schedule for RPI purposes. Looking at Nebraska's 2019 non-conference schedule, only two of the teams had losing records in 2018 - UCLA at 13-14 and Wichita State at 14-18. The cumulative W/L record of the nine opponents was 199-85, or an average record of roughly 22-9. While there is certainly no guarantee these teams will have the same or similar records in 2019, I would expect the end result to be quite positive in terms of the impact on Nebraska's RPI. The biggest problem Nebraska’s RPI faces is playing Rutgers twice in conference. Depends on how Rutgers does against their non-conference schedule. At a glance, I think 9-2 or 8-3 are real possibilities.

And.... we are almost here.... I want Kubik saying Foecke-ish things like we are going to win it this year. I want that swagger.

She might be a better option than Jazz now in terms of offense, but she needs to show it consistently in real matches. Moreover she needs to show she doesn't hurt us defensively. There's a lot of unknowns with Capri. Doing well in practices and scrimmages is nice, but no one should put too much weight in those things. I hope she does play well, if she plays, since the team needs to make up for some lost production.

From that YouTube video, I think it would benefit Nebraska a lot this year to run it faster to the outside. Foecke could get it done bc she's foecke, but I think the high ball hurt sun offensively. Sun and kubik are both fast outsides who could hit a faster tempted ball. It seems like they are running the same speed as 18s club teams rn.

I think there is a stage fright factor that is present across programs with the one or 2 players who wow in practice, but play nervously and inconsistently with their practice performance.

If we are to give merit to Davis' improvement via 1 scrimmage, should we not also look at Jazz's performance in all the sets she has played in since last season? Starting with Spring Game where she had 17 kills on .343 hitting, and while I can't find the article that listed her #'s in Japan and China, I don't recall them being much drop off and had her leading scorer in most matches. These matches refute the impression that she is performing like last year, and with plenty of competition matches to say it isn't just a single scrimmage performance. Meanwhile, Davis in the Spring Game had 5 kills through 2 complete sets at L1 after subbing for Sun. In the write up on the Asian trip, I don't recall seeing a break out performance by Davis and seemed in line with norm. Maybe we should temper the excitement for Davis and cheer for Jazz's notable improvement until we see otherwise? I surely don't think Jazz's Red/White game performance is a sample worthy of putting much measure to. She was not set often and a lot of the sets she did see, were not great sets, even earning a note in one of the articles that Hames still could improve that RS set and the timing w/Callie in the B slot.

You do not know what Davis can do in a real match (this year) until you give her a shot. I know some players has been more nervous for the R/W match than a match that counts in the record book. With very little change in Sweet's game then you look at all options which has been done.

I found one article on HVarsity which posted in one of the Japanese games, Sweet "chipped in nine kills on .474 hitting" and in one of the Chinese matches "Sweet added five on .800 hitting". Meanwhile it lists Davis' input for one of the Japanese matches as "Capri Davis led the Huskers with seven kills" and one of the Chinese matches as "Davis led the way with 14 kills" but left it appearing as though her hitting % wasn't noteworthy. It also noted that she had 3 block in another match and 9 kills in yet another match, but again leaving an impression she had low hitting %.
