I want her to be happy, too, but I want her to be happy with a championship ring. I don't want to put too much pressure on Sun after last season. I think she might play better as a role player next year. She already provides great leadership, the way it is.
Lexi Sun is going to have to learn to deal with the pressure of being Nebraska's top offensive option next year because that's what she's going to be. She'll have to embrace it just like Foecke or Quade or Plummer or Jones-Perry did. The great ones relish that, and if she wants to be great, then she will too. No training wheels next season. If Sun is our top offensive option next year, she’s going to need a lot more production from Sweet, Schwarzenbach, and whoever wins at L2.

Speaking of Quade, anyone else think Sun could benefit from having sets like Quade? IMO she's definitely quick enough. If Hames can get Sun the looks that Poulter got Quade, I can definitely see this. Names issue is ability to set tempo. I don’t see the sets quads hit being hit by Lexi not bc if Lexi, but bc of hames.

I think we will see a lot more out of Callie Schwarzenbach this fall! She was hitting at a high %age for a while last year but didn't get a lot of reps! Just needs more consistency! GO HUSKERS

I'd love it if Cook named Lexi Sun a captain. What better way for her to avoid those spells where it looks like she gets down on herself than if she is a team captain. It will force her to lead by example and show the younger players how to work their way out of a tough spell. I think she's got it in her. I'm gonna guess it'll be Stivrins and Hames. Stivrins is a lock IMO. I think you are right. I don't think Lexi would cut it as a captain. Maybe next year. GBR

We all just want Lexi to be happy.

I am so glad you and I are on the same page.

Why do people obsess over Lexi Sun? It’s either overly critical of her, or coming up with excuse after excuse on why she’s not playing better. She was an honorable AA her freshman year and not even that her sophomore year. Damn just let her play without these unproven grandiose expectations of her, or overly critical analysis that would not be given to any other athlete. I agree.

When is the last time the Huskers had a sophomore captain? I looked in the media guide and didn't see anything about who the captains were for each year. Amanda McCormick was a sophomore captain in 2004. I would be surprised if there hasn't been any since then. I found that info on huskers.com.

Kelly Hunter was a 3-year captain starting her redshirt sophomore year. Hames is already leader of half the team, the younger players. She's got captain written all over her.

I was thinking that Hunter was a captain her (redshirt) sophomore year, but I couldn't find anything to confirm it. Thanks for confirming! I agree that Hames has shown the fire and focus to be effective in that role.

After I conversation with another friend I remember her now, she transferred out. She's just no where to be found on old online rosters if you go and look at least I couldn't find her.
