I've been exposed to both but I'm just not a Howard fan. My hat is off to his popularity and his fanbase but it's just not my cup of tea. Wild, crazy manic, funny; all the things a comic can and should be but I just never got into it. That's all. As for the movie, it was the 80s, there were a lot of bad movies. I'm not sure I agree with the comic fans that it irrevocably damaged the book's reputation but it didn't help it. Have you read Howard the Duck's comic books or have you perhaps only seen the movie? The movie was very bad IMHO.

ROFL.
I don't think it had any major impact on the comic book at all.
It was almost like a totally different character.
The comic book is again not being published though it did have a new series perhaps a year or two back.
The writing was pretty far into left field (so to speak) so it isn't surprising that many didn't care for it.

Again, it's not a slight. I can't defend some of my other favorites which are just as irreverent and probably more crude or scatter- brained too. Like I said, I respect the character and the ideas. However, I've heard complaints about the newer stuff and hope that if they bring it back, then they get a writer with a great satirical flair. May I suggest someone from Great Britain? I guess it's the smog in London that makes them strange.

Anyway, it will be interesting if the Big Ten champ beats the Pac-10 champ. Let the fighting begin!!!

Isn't that only 3 matches? (UW v MU, UW v KU, MU v PU) UW- MU- UW- KU- MU- PU. Try saying this slowly 10 times with lit candles.

I think they call it the big bang. Gorf, you should be ashamed, this is a PG rated site. Please keep such perversions to yourself. I'm almost embarrassed at such a reply.

Maybe a rotation of Big 10, Pac 10, Big 12, WAC, SEC? It could be a great tourney. Maybe pool play based upon the previous year's standings with a quick elimination tournament. Similar to a JO tourney. But the problem with this scenario is that most teams don't have room for several matches on their calender . . . one match, well that's a lot more do-able. I'm a Big 10 fan, so IMHO, the Big 12 should get the shaft. Pac10 vs. Big10 . . . how do they figure the matchups for these? How does the Bball challenge do it? BTW, I watched Illinois whomp on Wake on the tele (bball) . . . three cheers for the orange and blue and my home state!

Possibly but wouldn't it be better to see the teams take the court and then we would know for sure. As for the way they select the teams maybe they could go on the previous years finish in conference play. But I don't know how the basketball team does it.

Ok here are the matches I found this year between the two conferences.
Penn St d. Stanford 3-2 USC d. Minn 3-2 ILL d. USC 3-2 Wash d. MSU 3-0 Stan d. Northwestern 3-0 Indiana d. Oregon State 3-0
So there you go six matches three wins for each conference.

And for the Big 12 supporters go ahead and steal this idea with the Big West conference. These four conferences have at least 6 teams a piece in the NCAA tourney this year.
