The NCAA will soon be have a competitor.
It will soon be challenged by the AFT.
The Area Format Tournament.
This is a new concept that is being examined by some investors.
This has been in the works for 2 years.
Using the Area Format technique, one could divide the college volleyball DI into 4 Areas.
Area I - all qualifying North Teams.
Area II - all qualifying South Teams.
Area III - all qualifying East Teams.
Area IV - all qualifying West Teams.
Each Area sets up its' standards, which would entitle teams to enter into their Area tournament.
Of course, only teams from that particular Area could enter, if they met the standard criteria.
The winner of the each Area tournament would represent that Area in the qualifying four Tournament for bragging rights as the collegiate volleyball DI AFT champs.
The most magnificent team in the country bar none.
The seeding for the qualifying four would be such that it would go by total points scored during the process to get to the qualifying four Tournament.
The one with the most to least points scored would be seated 1,2,3 and 4 respectively.
This way each Area would have to stop playing politics in order to produce a true representative that could win from that Area, the AFT Championship.
Using the Area Technique there would be no jockeying for position.
Moving a teams from the west to the east and from the east to the west, north to south, south to north in order to protect them or give them a path of least resistance to insure victory, would not occur.
Like what is being done for Hawaii.
The Area Format Tournament would also insure more inclusion of college DI teams for each of the college teams in the area, too.
