I don’t know about many other programs, but every scholarship player Nebraska brings in has spent their volleyball life not only playing full time on their teams, but was best player on their teams and one of the best players in their state. They come to Nebraska expecting to play. . . They have never been on a volleyball team in their lives where they were not good enough to play. . . But here it happens. Sami Slaughter certainly thought she would play…but she didn’t. Anezka Szabo Certainly thought she would play…but she didn’t. I guess they could have stayed at Nebraska and been great teammates and practice players, I guess Cook and his staff could have told Sami and Anezka that they were getting better and they could eventually play, but they wanted to play in actual matches immediately…so they transferred (South Dakota and Kansas) and are now playing, starting for their new teams. Nebraska fans are happy for these kids. I hope all of these kids come to Lincoln, have great careers, and graduate. . . But that is probably not possible because only 6 players can be on a volleyball court at a time, and at least 6 more on the team who want, expect…to be on that court. And now there are no longer any real barriers to transfer. And that is where we are. . . Thank you for listing them. I know those plus Capri Davis and an MB that went to Auburn. We all hope they do will. They're just young ladies figuring it out even before knowing a lot. Nebraska offers a lot. However, when you have like 6 or 7 top 5 caliber players that you split up the attention of all the husker nation and play time. It's inevitable it will happen. I don't know where they will end up though. Yeah, and I could have added Heather Atherton who went to NC and then Minnesota. . . But in the end, each case is different and each case is a broken dream. . . You just make the best of it and move forward. . . #gbr

I think that every player that commits to Nebraska knows that there are amazing players before and behind them and they take the chance because Nebraska is awesome. They take that risk knowing that there could be a phenom 1 year younger that takes their spot. The know there are odds and they are willing to see what happens. Nebraska has incredible coaching, history, facilities, legacy, fan base.

All of the girls played and all of them found that the level of play was just a bit higher than they could consistently deliver. Some of those girls were on partial scholarships. One thing that you forgot is that they are all used to winning. Playing more and winning little is not fun or rewarding. Sami, Hunter, and Nicole all went to programs that included their best or very good friends from childhood.

None of them but Miller played with any degree of regularity, and none of them would have played going forward. Miller contributed a great deal and had some bright spots including a 10+ service run in a game 5 win against Minnesota. But, her ds play had not improved and there it was no secret the staff was searching courts in 50 states to improve the play at that position. And either she understood this or she was told she was not going to replace Knuckles at L. . . Either way, she’s a smart kid and transferred to Northwestern and became their starting L. Drewnick is a really good player, which is why shy was involved in that double switch move once or twice a match. . . But she would have never been the starting setter her with Orr signing last November. To say that they “all played” is just false. . . Sorry

Yes please! It seems like we're always a step behind in the recruiting game. Like we're still actively recruiting 2021/2022's whereas most of the P5 or premiere programs are already onto 23/24s. It's very frustrating as a Hawaii fan to always play catch up . Why do you think that happens? Probably location and academics is at the top of the list.

That is not playing. All but Chesney have official statistics. They played. Not starting or playing the majority of a match is different. Each had a chance to secure a place in the playing rotation at their specialty. Hunter started the first two matches her freshman year and served often that year. Sami dueled Capri for that 1 rotation oh spot and Capri was much more terminal. Nesh came in to block, had very little affect, and couldn't finish when she was set. I cheered for each to play great when they got their chances and they did get chances in real games, but they couldn't quite get it done. They each had a chance to show that they were gamers. They did play. Sorry. I have watched almost all of the matches that Sami, Nesh, Hunter (at NC), Chesney (at Auburn), Abby Johnson (at Bradley) have played that were broadcasted. You are right that they would have played very little or none (Chesney and Abby). They have all found the right level of competition. P.S.- If Hames had gotten injured, Nicole would have started.

OMG. . .this isn’t even arguable. They all came to Nebraska to compete for championships, play in front of 8000+ and play…not one, two or 5 points every fourth or fifth match, but play…start. . .contribute in matches and in points that matter. They wanted to play in meaningful points, but they didn’t, and knew they never would…unlike they had their entire volleyball careers. We may have a different idea of what “playing” is to a scholarship volleyball player at Nebraska; I don’t think Slaughter considered she played much in 2 years with 30 kills and a two point cameo in a first round of the NCAA tournament match against Hofstra. Atherton didn’t come to Nebraska to serve four or five times a match. . . And she sure didn’t come to Nebraska to watch from the sidelines for two years and then have an incoming freshman be the setter. She came to Nebraska to be the setter, and she wasn’t, and was told she probably never would be, and so she left so she could set at North Carolina. None of these kids came to Nebraska to play mop up duty for a few points after the starters got us way ahead. We have a different idea of “playing” constitutes. All of these kids except for Miller were not playing. Sorry
