Stanford only has one remaining/unclaimed BB scholarship for 22 and both Kiki Rice and Indya Nivar have Stanford in their top 10. I'm sure they'd love to get one of them so Stanford probably doesn't have any BB scholarships for 22. Unless both have privately indicated that they are not coming to Stanford, I really doubt that VanDerveer asked Mendelson to reclassify. COVID is making things so weird that women's basketball programs are finally using all 15 scholarships. Well, some of them. Most are probably still leaving 3-4 vacant. Yes, although that suggests that they aren't asking MM to reclassify bc of scholarship availability per se. Maybe they want her to reclassify bc they don't want a bunch posts in 23? Or they desparately need a post next season? I agree w your earlier post that it's very unlikely that MM decided to reclassify (esp this late) unless a program asked her to. If most have available scholarships in 2023, why? And why now?

Tara, the Stanford's womens basketball coach, isn't very big on dual athletes. I would be very surprised (but happy) to see her at Stanford playing both sports. Though given the depth at her position on the basketball team, maybe Tara would make an exception knowing she'd make a good backup. I doubt many college coaches like dual athletes, especially when the sports overlap. Also it seems few recruits that express an interest in playing two sports actually end up doing so. It appears that Schaefer and Elliot have a good working relationship so they may be willing to give it a go, but I suspect Mendleson will evenually end up choosing one sport over the other. Mendelson has been pretty adamant about playing both sports in college, so I would guess she'll at least try it for a while.

What other volleyball players have reclassified? The only ones that come to mind for me are Logan Eggleston and Whitney Bower.

Yes, I knew that (especially since I watched the matches) which is the reason for my statement. Typically VB visits involve a Saturday or Sunday VB match since those are the typical days for a visit. Mostly throwing this out there as wishful thinking. Wonder if Tennessee would be an option. Arguably the most storied WBB program and the volleyball team is definitely on the rise and will be challenging for years to come. UConn is definitely the most storied women's basketball program. Tennessee hasn't even been to a Final Four since 2008.

I’d be very surprised if Mendelson goes to Texas… knowing the amount of top middles they are getting for 2022-2023.
But then Elliott is the best recruiter in the college game. So who knows?

Lots of recruits are adamant about it in high school, but few actually try to play two team sports once they are faced with what it actually takes to do it. The ones that actually do it during their college career typically combine a team sport with an individual sport such as track & field. Not saying Mendelson won't try it, but recent history is against her.

I’m praying you’re right! Seriously??? As if you guys don’t already have enough talent.. greedy 🐷 I actually covet her more for basketball than volleyball. 6'5 post players who play with their backs to the basket are at a premium these days. Texas could use her in hoops come 2022-23 for sure.

If you mean Stanford when you say "they", they have the #1 player in the country, 6'7 Lauren Betts out of Colorado committed for the class of 2022. So, no, they don't "need" another post player for next season.

I know there's probably no way, but Wisconsin's WBB program could use such a franchise player to rebuild around. *sigh* I can dream.

I know Stivrins will move on after this year, but are both Caffey and Schwarzenbach done after this year? Seems like Allick and MM could be a could be quite the duo for Nebraska (as much as I don’t want that to happen).

Is Oregon a consideration for Mendelson? Oregon is a big WBB school?
