I can't believe you would cheat to get into Wake Forest. It's a dinky little no-nothing school. Yup, It's no Hawaii. Not sure what Hawaii has to do with this. Wolfgang didn't even attend UH if I remember correctly. He just supports the volleyball programs.

I would not call be tied with Michigan at #27 this year with US News and World Report's Best National Universities "No nothing". Only schools rated higher in the ACC were Duke and Notre Dame. Georgia Tech, UVA and UNC must have moved on to the B1G recently. ACC by academics, ready, go... Duke, ND, BC, GT, VA, Wake, VT, NC, Cuse, Pitt, L'ville, NC St, Clem, FSU, the U then went back and looked at SATs (Wake and L'ville not on chart) Duke, ND, GT, BC, VA, NC, the U, Pitt, NC St, Clem, VT, FSU, Cuse Wake(?), L'ville(?)

You are right. I missed Virginia, tied at #25. UNC was #30 and Georgia Tech was tied at #35. Getting into Wake Forest, which only has a little over 5,000 undergrads is a big deal in that part of the country. BC #38.

The outrage is just beginning. Institutions are in damage control.
oh...also Americans owe over $1.56 trillion in student loan debt, spread out among about 45 million borrowers. Thatโs about $521 billion more than the total U.S. credit card debt.
People are super pissed. This element below is disgusting.
College cheating scandal is the tip of the iceberg By David Perry
CNN
Worst of all, according to the charging documents, some parents worked with Singer to get their child falsely diagnosed with a learning disability so they could be provided with a reasonable accommodation for extra time and a quiet space for the test and Singer could swap out an official proctor with someone on his payroll.
For example, the complaint includes an alleged conversation between Singer and Gordon Caplan, the co-chair of a massive international law firm, Wilkie Farr & Gallagher. Singer explained that Caplan's daughter would meet with a psychologist on his payroll, but that she would need to "be stupid" in order to get diagnosed with learning disabilities. Then she would be able to fly out to Los Angeles and take the test with Singer's corrupt proctor. Best of all, Singer allegedly promised, Caplan's daughter would also then be able to use her fake diagnosis to get extra time throughout her college career.

The irony is that Frank Gallagher (Felicity Huffman's husband) wasn't involved. I love Frank! Felicity's husband is William H. Macy (actor)

The number of years over which the scandal took place. Federal authorities said Singerโs scheme ran from 2011 until February 2019.

They are charging them with "conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud" in this complaint but I would expect the treasury department will be calling all of them also because you could really throw the book at them. It is tax evasion, it tax fraud, it is money laundering, wire fraud etc. I think they will make an example of them. Some of these "pillars of the community" are real POS. They even lied to their precious (moron) children so their kids would think they actually got in on merit and that is how the FBI has locked cases against them because the FBI has the phone calls where the parents are admitting the fraud but scared their precious kid might find out.I don't think they lied because it never came up. Their kids were/are blindsided. There is so much wrong with this. Why the hell can't parents let their kids grow up in their own realities? If you fail, well, get up and try again. Same old story of parents getting TOO involved with their children's lives. Is it that they have no faith in their children's ability to build a life for themselves. Or does the parent feel reward when said child does well that they were apart of it and made it happen ? They are called "lawn mower" parents and are willing to mow down anything that gets in the way of their kids success. They are an extreme variant of "helicopter parents".

I can't relate to these parents. I myself tried to sabotage my child#2's SATs because I didn't want him getting into an expensive Ivy League school.

Remember when Ferguson was coaching USC menโs volleyball? It all leads back to USC... I see a lot of interesting connections here. CW3 is the Yale coach and he testifies that he approached a Harvard coach on behalf of the college prep guy. The case is all originating in Boston yet no Boston schools are being accused. It looks like the Harvard coach turned them in and then somehow the FBI was called.

๐๐๐๐๐๐ Sports Coaches and Administrators in Yale, UCLA, Wake, USC, Georgetown and the Stanford Sailing Coach! oh oh my. I would imagine this scheme runs way deeper than just 4 dozen people. The 'Rich Racketeering' = Systemic I think this will grow too. Lots of people are not named yet. Most likely. This is just the tip of the iceberg I think.

I believe the investigation started as a spin-out of an IRS probe into the charitable organization at the center of the whole scheme. It must have become clear that during that audit that something fishy was going on and the FBI was brought in. Operation Varsity Blues then took over and the rest is now history.
