Too bad, I had hoped Irvine would put up a better fight.

No doubt in my mind after looking at the stats in this match that what we suspected last week at the Pyramid re: Kelly Wing is true. She was seen holding her hitting arm funny and looked very sore. She certainly doesn't have the zip in her arm that we saw during the first 2/3rds of the season...too bad because a healthy Kelly Wing made that team dangerous. Without her they are a totally different, and much less effective, team!

Although Arizona played very well, I wasn't impressed with UCI in any aspect. This is the first Big West team I've seen play this year and if UCI was competitive in any matches, the BigWest must truly be way down. KellyWing had some great swings but had a lot of errs. If Cash is an All-Conf player, well, maybe she was hurt tonight because being tall shouldn't make you all-conf. Setter had nice hands but seemed pretty slow getting to the ball. Their blocking was pretty weak. They got served off the court at times (when Arizona got their serves over and in), nobody on the team has any heat except Wing. This was an extremely disappointing match to watch. Their band was pretty good though. New Mexico State would have kicked UCI's butt was the general consensus after watching both matches. If Arizona plays like they did last night(which was impressive from a hitting/blocking stand point but not so much from a ball control, defense, serving perspective) and USD doesn't play better offensively tonight, Arizona will likely be moving on. Just hoping USD's defense frustrates Arizona long enough for USDs offense to get in gear.
