Chapman takes the first 25-15. The Beavers staid close early with scores of 5-5 and 11-9 but then Chapman went on runs to make it 15-9 then 20-10 and the teams mostly traded points from there.

The new camera angle is a lot easier to watch. The distant position sacrifices detail but it's easy to keep track of what is going on.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2019) – Senior Lauren Li (Bellaire, Texas / Bellaire) became the first player in the history of the Caltech volleyball program to receive All-SCIAC recognition, while Head Coach Tom Gardner and his staff received SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors. Li, who was named to Second Team All-SCIAC, posted a career season with 235 kills on a .211 percentage. The senior will go down as arguably the best offensive player to come through the program to date, as her 702 career kills are a Caltech volleyball record. Li is also the only player in Caltech history to register multiple seasons of 200 kills or greater. Li and her teammates progressed and thrived under the leadership of Gardner. The sixth-year Caltech head coach led his team to its first 10-win season in more than 20 years as well as its first season of multiple SCIAC victories, which also included a sweep of Occidental College. Gardner-coached players now occupy the majority of single-season and career statistical records thanks to a season where the Beavers statistically raised the bar in nearly every team category. Gardner and the Beavers will look to build upon their impressive season down the line with 2019 serving as the new standard for Caltech volleyball. www.gocaltech.com/sports/wvball/2019-20/releases/20191104eb6qvf

Caltech 3, Saint Vincent 0 The Bearcats fell in their second match by a 3-0 defeat, losing the first set 25, 12, the second set 25-19, and the final set 25-19. Staples and Polk once again led the way in the second match of the day, both recording six kills for SVC. Jessica Hughes, along with Fox and DiFuccia all had three kills in the loss as well. Eagler recorded two blocks and 18 assists for SVC as well. Ramos once again led the way with 16 digs in the match. It was all Caltech in the opening set. The Beavers opened up to a 6-1 lead, scoring the first four points of the set and never looked back. The Bearcats attempted to claw back into the match, cutting the lead to 13-9 after a kill from Polk but were unable to sustain it. The Beavers closed the set out on a 12-3 run to win the set (25-12), taking a 1-0 lead in the match. It was a similar story in the second set as well. Caltech opened up to an early 7-3 lead. This time, Saint Vincent climbed back into the set, going on a 7-3 run of their own to tie the set up at 10-10 after a kill from Fox. The Beavers answered with an 8-1 run to regain a commanding 18-11 lead. The Bearcats had one final run in them in the set, going on a 6-0 run on three errors by Caltech, mixed between two service aces from Polk and a kill from Staples as the Beavers held a slight 18-17 lead. Caltech went on to outscore the Bearcats 7-2 over the remaining points to win set two (25-19), taking a 2-0 lead in the match. Caltech controlled the majority of the third set as well. The Beavers opened up to an early 5-1 lead, but SVC bounced back. The Bearcats scored the next three points on a service error by the Beavers and back-to-back aces from Ramos to cut the lead to 5-4. The teams traded the next several points back-and-forth as Caltech still led by one at 13-12. It was all Beavers from that point, as Caltech went on a 10-4 run to take a 23-16 lead. The Bearcats gave one final attempt to cut into the lead but fell short falling in the final set (25-19) and the match 3-0. As a team, SVC compiled 25 kills, 47 digs, and 22 assists. The Bearcats also recorded seven service aces in the match as well. Claire Perhach led the way for Caltech with 14 kills. Sophia Parker also had a solid game for the Beavers, recording nine kills in the win. The Bearcats will play their final game of the Oberlin Invitational, tomorrow, Saturday, September 16, when they take on Wooster. The game is scheduled to begin at noon at Oberlin College. athletics.stvincent.edu/news/2023/9/15/womens-volleyball-womens-volleyball-splits-doubleheader-at-oberlin-invitational.aspx

Bulldog Women's Volleyball loses in straight sets to Caltech REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's volleyball team (3-4, 0-2) fell to the California Institute of Technology (CIT) on Friday evening inside Currier Gym as they lost in straight sets. The Bulldogs did not start well in the first set as they conceded seven of the first eight points and the lone point won was off a Beaver attacking error. Redlands, though, called a timeout and over the next 16 points the Bulldogs won 10 of 16 and got within two, 13-11. During that stretch Paige Sugg had two kills while Avery Aminoff, Kiki Stradford, and Lilia Donaldson all had one kill with Ella Goettsche assisting on three kills and Kaegen Wherry recording two. CIT would steady the ship with a timeout which allowed them to finish the first set on a 12-7 run as they took the set 25-17. The second set saw the Bulldogs come out strong with four of the first six points thanks to kills from Stradford and Aminoff and a kill for Goettsche. Redlands' rhythm was thrown off after they thought they had a 3-1 lead but were called for being out of rotation and they lost the point and it was given to CIT, as was the service. The set would remain tight as the two teams were tied at four, five, six, and seven. The Beavers would start to take control after it was tied at seven as they won six-straight to take a 13-7 lead. Donaldson, Aminoff, Wherry, and Makaila Brooks all had kills as they responded to CIT's run with an 8-3 run of their own as they got within one, 16-15. The strong run of play would not last as the Beavers ended the set by winning nine of the final 12 points and took the set 25-18. The third and final set was a mixed bag as they won the first three points thanks to two Beaver errors and a service ace from Goettsche, but fell behind by six, 13-7, through the middle of the set. Another 3-0 stretch got them back into the set as they trailed by only three, 13-10, but allowed a 12-5 run to end the set. The Bulldogs offense got more efficient as the match went on, improving from .053 hitting percentage in the first to a .118 in the second and then a .318 in the third. The problem, though, was they did not get enough opportunities as they had 38 and 34 total attacks in the first two sets but only 22 in the third. The defense, however, did not improve, as CIT hit .538 in the third after .225 and .194 percentages to start. goredlands.com/news/2023/9/22/bulldog-womens-volleyball-loses-in-straight-sets-to-caltech.aspx
