Interesting development by the NCAA, today. The NCAA will allow Spring Sports Senior Athletes to return for an additional year, in 2021, if they so desire to. The Spring Sports would be Baseball, Beach Volleyball, golf, Men's Volleyball, Softball, Tennis, Outdoor Track, and Water Polo. Now it is up to Hawaii Athletic Director Dave Matlin to figure things out, also, up to the Athlete to decide if they want to return for an additional year. It would be sad if Dave Matlin does not allow this to occur, and other D1 schools allow it. Will give the other D1 schools a huge advantage over Hawaii in 2021. Hoping Dave Matlin, figures out how to make this occur so Hawaii will be on the same playing field as the other schools that do allow it. Was just about to post about this. I wonder who will take part in this as far as this years team? That’s a lot of talented experienced players adding great underclassmen talent. Even on top of that, who gets cut so roster sizes remain reasonable?

"His sexuality" Not sure why this would be a factor in anything. There are both gay and straight people on the team now and in the past...... There’s someone on the team right now? I wouldn’t have known. By the way, Kanetake never had any problem with his team. Exactly, that’s what made me think it was a particular teammate that there was an issue with and maybe Wade went with what that player said over Austin? Again mostly speculation but so is everyone else’s comments. I don’t know what player he would have had issues with besides Cowell, Stijn, and Brett Rosenmeier. And from what know he’s been friendly with the majority of those guys, don’t know as much with Brett

Obviously we'd love to see Rado, Gasman, and Cowell return and bring closure to their senior seasons. It feels like watching the best part of an epic movie then it shuts off and you feel shortchanged. Question is, would they want to return for a final season? It's not everyday where you have the opportunity to win a NC with a very deep and talented lineup including a solid incoming freshman class.

Great news about the spring sports seniors getting an extra year of eligibility. On a side note, as a season ticket holder I hope they give us some sort of credit for the 6 matches that we paid for that are not going to be played. A credit on next years season tickets would be nice...

The website also said we will be contacted.

The NCAA tweet mentions eligibility relief for ALL Spring Sports student-athletes not just seniors. So it's not just seniors who are getting another year. I assume that this year simply won't count against any active player eligibility. Right?

Doesn’t seems like any of the senior is expected to be back. Honestly, it’s not surprising. Spending another year in college is not something most people want to do. College and college volleyball is only a small part of their lives. Colton is a prospect to play beach. He also have a steady girlfriend and probably would like to spend more time with her. Rado will probably play pro. James will not get more playing time coming back. Pat is an engineer student so he will not have any problem finding a good job. The thing I will miss is their senior night. Too bad we couldn’t give them a proper send off. These guys were part of one of the most successful two years of men’s volleyball in the program‘s history. They deserve their leis and loves. Great attitudes displayed by these guys.

From Cindy's blog:
The Warriors returned today. The “Aunties” met them at the airport so they had several lei for the bus ride back to campus. Think they’re still all in shock. Got to speak with the four seniors and Coach Wade. All very gracious in their interviews. Here are video interviews with the four seniors — Patrick Gasman, Rado Parapunov, Colton Cowell, and James Anastassiades — as well as Wade.
The four players expressed varying degrees of openness to a return, depending on the NCAA’s allowance of extended eligibility. Gasman and Anastassiades seemed the most open to the idea, if a scholarship was part of the deal, while Parapunov and especially Cowell said they were intending to turn professional.

Assuming he will be in self-quarantine for 14 days upon landing at Czech.

Assuming he will be in self-quarantine for 14 days upon landing at Czech. Random aside, I don’t think I’ve ever heard Humler speak. Has he ever done a post game with the corner crew?

I think somewhere on this thread I mentioned that since 2015, the Bows went to the NCAA Tournament only in the odd number years, and I was hoping it’ll be different this year. Unfortunately, they didn’t make it. No one made it, but still, it didn’t happen for the Bows on an even number year. Looking forward to 2021!!! 🏆😁
