Maybe the NCAA number only includes tickets sold and not pass lists. Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure someone will, if I am), but you can't use a 'pass list' during post-season play. Everyone (family, friends, etc.) have to buy a ticket to the event. UT should've scheduled better. They knew before they were even selected to host, that their football team would be playing at 6pm on Saturday. They either should've asked for a Thursday-Friday hosting slot, or moved the match to the afternoon, like GaTech had for their match. That's if they really cared about volleyball and I'm still not sure they do, which is a true testament to the job Rob and company have done up there. To only have 367 in attendance is appalling. Well the game wasn't in Knoxville, it was in Atlanta (I believe), so they really didn't have much choice. Either way people were going to go out-of-town to the game. They tried to schedule in such a way as to have as many fans as they could and I believe Friday night's attendance was decent (not sure, didn't look at the numbers). Anyway, it's tough to compete with 'The Big Two' (ie. - football and basketball) this time of year - no matter who you are (provided you have either at your school). BTW, it's pretty late. I've added 135 posts to my count, which brings me up to 415 for the last three days. As Arlo Guthrie says, "I'm not proud or tired"; but my eyes hurt and my fingers are cramped, so I'm outta here!

You have been a busy boy and Thank You!!
About the Wahine Haters.....while I am a great fan of our wahine I do think that BIK creates ill will for us. He is foul mouthed, abusive, agressive, and bias to a fault. He does us no favors and I wish he would STOP. He is not about aloha.

Seriously? Of the 3500+ that would be willing to attend the match were it at Pyramid, only 500 were willing to make the Saturday evening drive to Westwood. Not sure I'd trumpet the great Beach fans too much using those figures. I know, I know... there's just so much to do in southern California compared to the other barren wastelands that actually do draw VB FANS. You'd be smart not to lump LB in with the other schools here in Southern California. LB has the 14th highest average attendance, not bad out of 300+ schools.

I 've said on numerous occassions that I don't speak for the Wahine or the other Wahine fans. If other people dislike the Wahine or other Wahine fans because of things I say, that is really their petty problem. They need to, as Gorf mentioned in another thread, be able to differentiate the team from its fans. I don't speak for the Wahine or other Wahine fans but remember, neither do you. Btw, as you don't know me (only my posting habits), you have no right to say I have no aloha.

Aloha is in everything you do to create perception...your coarse words, your hard edge, your 'in your face' attitude speak volumes about you.
You are NOT 'Living Aloha".

But then again, Leahy/McLachlin like to make things up as they go along, a la Ong getting that phone call in Hawaii to make a last minute flight to Colorado to replace the injured Watanabe on the roster.

He is not about aloha. gobows Pesonally, BiK tends to make me laugh with many of his more "abrasive" posts. I find that they're generally in response to someone else making a ( sometimes perceived) knock in the Wahine (or himself) so he responds in kind. FWIW: There are probably times when folks on the board here that think that BiK, (R)uffda! and myself hate each other because of the way we respond / attack each other. As far as I know, and at least from my part that couldn't be much further from the truth. When we think we may have gone "overboard" with each other we tend to go behind the scenes in IM's to either apologize to make sure what we've said wasn't TOO far "below the belt". I do think that we each can make "loud" statements in favor of our teams or make questioning statements about other teams. If thise types of things want to make someone "hate' us as individuals so be it, however, if it makes anyone want to hate our teams than I believe that says significantly more about those people that feel like hating that it says about us. ((* I'll be stumbling and falling off of the soap box now... *))

And, they were allowed to put other names in so that the tickets were reserved for family and friends (they had to purchase).

I have met BiK in person and he is a nice guy. He also responds quickly to my IMs to him if I need help with VT posting questions. If you know him personally, you would not say he does not have Aloha.
Regarding his tirades, he does not hide his strong passion for the Wahine team. He will fight you if you try to belittle the Wahine. But he also repeatedly mentioned that his views are his and not reflect the whole Hawaii gang. I find it immature to hate the Wahine team just because of one fan.
I hated (such a strong word, but I can't find the right word to use) LBSU because they were a good team and kept beating the Wahine during the early 90s. I don't detest/despise the 49ers because of my dislike of Beach posters (Beachman, and Robert Morley et al) ;D

I agree. While I don't know BiK, I have had good conversations with him on this board. And even though I don't agree with everything he says, this is a PUBLIC volleyball forum. People can say whatever the hell they want to. If you don't like what he has to say, IGNORE HIM! If you do, then good for you. People are WAY to sensitive on here. I know that BiK doesn't represent the UH Wahine team; he represents his opinions, and voices them. Anyone who thinks his words reflect on the UH team, or then hates the UH team because of what he says, are giving him WAY too much power.
Speak your mind, and let others do the same.

I know LBSU is the lone exception to the 'socal fans are pathetic' theme. I just found if funny that of estimated 3500+ LBSU fans that would make the trip to the 'mid to watch LBSU v UCLA, only 500 would put forth the extra driving effort of 30 miles on a Saturday evening to watch their beloved 49rs. (was trying ot be sarcastic)

Hatred for that team is probably not the case, but I must admit, the thought: "Damn, I just wish TEAM X would just lose so FAN Y would just shut-up already." (Once when I was really tired and was still reading this board, TEAM X = Nebraska, FAN Y = 2c. )
