Attend: 685
Give me a break. Are you trying to tell me that is the best UCLA could do for a 2nd round playoff game? Why the hell would ANY committee give them a hosting slot ever again? Were they even able to pay for the sweat jockeys?
Congrats to UCLA for taking LB in 3. At least the Beach made them close games.
Oh yeah, and thanks to BIK for creating another Hawaii hater...ME.

USC/UCLA football game could be part of the reason for the low attendance

That is about right and over 500 of them were from Long Beach State....Not even a UCLA cheerleader.....what a joke, plus they do a terrible job at Pauley of hosting.....they should be ashamed!

Anyone have the attendance figures for the other sub regionals?
Florida-Stanford was attended by a whopping 651 fans tonight. That is just shameful for a match of that caliber. Stupid committee.

Beachman, I'd point you to the post immediately following robetmotley's...I really feel the UCLA/USC football game was a contributor to this. It would certainly explain why there weren't any cheerleaders (although, who really wants them at a VB match anyway?). I know that this contributed to Tennessee having low attendance today (they mentioned it a couple of times during the audiocast). Now, I'm not making excuses for football (or the Bruins), 'cause I'm with you two - people should want to come to these VB matches, but the reality of the sports world is that we're not that 'important'. Too bad, there were some great matches this weekend.

With more than 500 out the the 600+ fans supporting LBSU and they still cannot win, it should be LBSU who should feel ashamed. The UCLA cheerleaders probably knew that they are not needed as they knew that the Bruins can win in 3!!!

Ok, again, so why bother having the 1st/2nd rounds there?
If the assumption is everyone is going to go the football game??
I understand that these rounds werent LB's to host, but we would have had 3500+ at tonights game.

There were 2,900 and some fans at Wisconsin tonight. The numbers have dropped for the NCAA matches, which makes me think they were counting the band, ball girls, ushers, concession workers, and support staff during the regular season. Maybe the NCAA number only includes tickets sold and not pass lists. Still, a pretty decent crowd for a match between two unranked teams. It is really too bad that UCLA-LBSU and Florida-Stanford couldn't get the audiences they deserved. Why don't the teams in southern California draw better? Is it partly due to being in a metro area rather than in college towns per se? I just hope the regionals do well. I am still not sure what they were thinking in selecting Green Bay as a site.

Are you kidding me? do you even have any idea what LB usually draws to a regular season match?

They must have used the same special counting system that they used to get 5000 for the home match against Minnesota.

UT should've scheduled better. They knew before they were even selected to host, that their football team would be playing at 6pm on Saturday. They either should've asked for a Thursday-Friday hosting slot, or moved the match to the afternoon, like GaTech had for their match. That's if they really cared about volleyball and I'm still not sure they do, which is a true testament to the job Rob and company have done up there. To only have 367 in attendance is appalling.

I would guess LBSU draws about 2,000-2,500 per match, which is better than the rest of the teams in the area. They probably had more when they had Weaver, Haneef, Hochevar et al. Is that about right?

I understand that these rounds werent LB's to host, but we would have had 3500+ at tonights game. Seriously? Of the 3500+ that would be willing to attend the match were it at Pyramid, only 500 were willing to make the Saturday evening drive to Westwood. Not sure I'd trumpet the great Beach fans too much using those figures. I know, I know... there's just so much to do in southern California compared to the other barren wastelands that actually do draw VB FANS.
