Not sure why posters are discussing getting rid of one or more schools; it's never gonna happen. If anything, you'll probably be adding two more schools in the next decade.
But, the school that probably brings the least to the B1G as far as TV market share, academics, and athletic success is Iowa . . .

Hawk Attack (didn't know which one of your posts to quote) For pretty much all purposes, Penn State is a public/state school. 99% of Americans aren't going to know/care that they're a public-private hybrid technically. Not sure why you would hone in on that as a reason for them not to be in the B1G... Not being a state school is the least of my concerns, it’s the geography that throws me off the most. They’re clearly not in the Midwest and I like to think of the B1G as the Midwest stronghold.

KU is fine, but I'd prefer Mizzou/Pitt. Pitt and KU are about the same size. If we HAVE to have PSU then Pitt makes sense. I’d like to drop Rutgers and Maryland for Pitt or Mizzou AND Louisville or WVU.

I think hoping these bottom teams get better talent and coaching is a much greater likelihood solution than dropping teams from a big paid day conference. If they could win their out of conference games, and have most of those be against the bottom of the RPI builders so as to raise the conference as a whole, the silly schedule issues in conference would be livable.

Co-champions. There are tie-breaker rules, but that is only for the NCAA tournament auto-berth, and since the co-champions will also make it, it's kind of moot.
