Overall, yeah could be a color that hues more towards purple, but for the B1G, RED is the color. I'm also pretty sure pigs will fly before Rutgers wins the B1G. And yet, someone voted Rutgers to win the conference. LOL! If you can find a sports book to make that bet, the odds would be incredible. It'd be like buying a Powerball ticket. You'll never win, but just imagine the payout

Which team do you think will have the most surprising season (good or bad)? Based on last year's performance, I think Michigan State will turn it around this upcoming season.

Good - Ohio State Bad - Michigan State Michigan State is going to have an even worse season than last year? Only if Cox is still the libero.

Michigan State is going to have an even worse season than last year? Only if Cox is still the libero. She played the best I have ever seen her play last month in their spring match against Michigan. Naya Gros is the real deal, she has All B1G potential. I'm expecting a much better season from MSU.

Good - Ohio State Bad - Michigan State Michigan State is going to have an even worse season than last year? I don’t know about a worse season. But I think expectations are for them to rise back into the top half or at least solidly in the middle and I think those expectations are going to be disappointed.

I would go with Minnesota bad - they could lose 3 more games than last year and still win conference. And Ohio State good, hard to see how they don't improve on just 3 wins. Here would be my guess on over/under from last year's conference record: Minnesota (19-1) Under Illinois (17-3) Under Nebraska (15-5) ?? Wisconsin (15-5) ?? Penn State (14-6) ?? Purdue (12-8) Over Michigan (11-9) Under Maryland (9-11) Under Indiana (7-13) Over Iowa (7-13) ?? Northwestern (6-14) Over Michigan State (5-15) Over Ohio State (3-17) Over Rutgers (0-20) ??

What do you think will hold MSU back from at least being solidly in the middle ?

I think they’ll finish in the lower third of the Big. They have talent - but the top 2/3 is stronger - woe is life in the Big Ten

What do you think will hold MSU back from at least being solidly in the middle ? Being historically apathetic and content.

1. The 2017 team was better than the 2018 team. 2. Agree on Haggerty. The biggest challenge for Wisconsin this year is depth. 3. Tionna's hitting numbers were better under Hilley: Tionna with Hilley (.387, .352) Tionna with Carlini (.330,.326) 4. The biggest thing Barnes brings is serving. And if Hart was better than 3 Time All American Tionna she would have played. Don't agree that a team that lost 9 matches was better than a team that lost 5, despite the schedule Badgers had some good stats in 2017, but they had a hard time turning those into wins until the very end. They'd come out strong, but matches would turn on them, then they couldn't turn them back. They underperformed their Pablo ranking badly as a result. That started to happen less last year. That was the big improvement that I saw. I hope that they can push on from there. Agree on Haggerty and Tionna. I think Hart may eventually become better than Williams was, but she wasn't last year from what I saw. Interested to see if Loberg can improve, and if Duello keeps up her level from last year. Barnes has a good serve, for sure, but I think Barnes passing may be really important to stabilizing the team. If there are wobbles in passing, she may step in, and I'm not sure she gets displaced. As for other teams, I think Minnesota will be strong, but the uncertainty for me is about the chemistry. SSS was a good setter technically, but I always felt the team also just got some sort of confidence when she played. We'll see if Miller can bring the same. Nebraska we know will be good, especially now that Hames has a year of experience, and Cook gets his teams to pass and play D. The question is can Sun fill Foecke's shoes? PSU is a question mark for me, as is Illinois without Bastianelli and Poulter.

I’m excited for Nia R and Temí Thomas for NWU. Those two could be a fun tandem on the outside for Shane the next 2 years...
