They have (per Rich Kern) one 2020 commit (a DS), and two 2021’s. The latter two are now someone else’s concern, I suppose, and if the DS decides to go elsewhere, I’m not sure it’s the end of the world. There are only two seniors on the 2019 roster. Will the replacement coach, whether it’s Josh or someone else, be able to recruit transfers as well as the Kreklows did, though? A lot of schools are going to be trying to flip Jordan Iliff's commitment.

I really really hate nepotism. Sure, but Joshua and Molly were both all-americans and did stints with the national teams. They've also been behind the bench for a couple now, so it's not as if they are unqualified to at least get a chance to prove themselves. As a Mizzou fan, I have no problem seeing them take the reigns. It's not as if Cook or Rose are relocating to Columbia. Don't you think there's AT LEAST one tier of candidates between Rose/Cook and Josh?

I remember when Mizzou was recruiting some amazing players from China. Was that based on an assistant coach under Kreklow? No that was based off their connections while coaching at NAIA school Columbia College. They had a really broad network that also tapped into many of the top juco schools. cc: Paola Ampudia And that assitant coach and her husband were with them in Columbia, so yes, it was because of them.

Remember Lindsey Noll?

So, why wait until 4 weeks prior to August camp for the 2019 season? Why wait until some freshmen signees may have just enrolled for summer classes? Why wait 7 months after the conclusion of the 2018 volleyball season? Why put doubt into the minds of any verbally committed seniors who plan to sign with Mizzou in November?
Since you point out that they had been there 19 years, wouldn't it be more monumental to have coached that 20th season which begins in 6 weeks?
It's more like 3 weeks until August practices start. I hope this does not signify an illness for one of them... Unfortunately the circumstances suggest that health reasons could be a reasonable possibility. At least something that was unexpected.

Oh yes. She was with them at Mizzou for a while too. My bad

Don't you think there's AT LEAST one tier of candidates between Rose/Cook and Josh? Oh for sure and I didn't mean there weren't plenty of good coaches outside of the top tier of coaches. I just mean as a Mizzou fan I feel like the program is in good shape with the Taylor's taking over/continuing. Unless the season is a complete disaster, I wouldn't supplant them unless it was for a top tier coach. I predict they will at least be given the chance to prove themselves over the course of a few seasons, even if there is a slight hiccup this season.

No health issues, Kreklows mentored Josh and Molly for three years. Maybe if you wait till the last minute to announce your retirement then you know for sure they will retain current staff ( Josh and Molly) as interims? Only one recruit coming in this year. Transfers gravitate to Mizzou, I bet they will continue to, why not -successful program, great college town, VB a premiere sport on campus. Big budget, Nike school, Top 3 in the conference and advancement to Regionals every year! Close to St Louis, KC, strong VB Recruiting Area!!!

Well, they have the job for the season so any talk of who will step in permanently is a long ways off.

Talked to a player. No foul play. Understandable situation.

So I'm confused by this James McAvoy gif. Is this to signify you people are worried for the program, or that you are hot and bothered by Joshua Taylor? Cause James McAvoy looks he's about to ralph (apologies to anyone named Ralph). Lol.

You just gave reasons why unless Josh and Molly have a spectacular season (e.g. sweet 16 minimum), then Mizzou should be able to find a more proven coach next spring. If this is a true handoff situation, it somewhat suggests that Mizzou isn't too invested in the program. It's a "don't embarrass the university and make the tourney every now and then" hire. I know coaches like Rose and Cook will likely pick their successors, but I doubt it'll be a kid fresh out of undergrad.
