Because in someone's mind (cough cough, can they hear me in Stevens Point) hosting sectional finals in schools that dont have boys volleyball will be so exciting for the schools hosting that they will run to their student population and form a boys volleyball team on the spot.

So I now looked at the girl's brackets. East Troy also hosting the girls sectional finals the same day. AND all the boys finals are at 4:30; girls get the 7pm slots.

Yes another grow the game theory. Congratulations on making state, no you can not take pictures on the court we have to let the girls on to warm up since they are the main event.
All sectional finals will be double headers with the boys having to play at 430 on a Saturday at all locations at schools who do not have boys volleyball.

They will have to re-adjust the net height, so that might give some time for pictures...

BEast loses 22-25, 25-20, 11-25, 22-25. When each team played well they looked like teams that can make a run at State, but East made a few more errors than GTown in sets 1 and 4, and way more in set 3.
Congrats to CMH on the win, and to both CMH and West on being Co-Champs.

Do they ask anyone involved in boys volleyball before making these decisions? Because this is brutal, I would be pissed if I was still playing.

Putting the sectional in East Troy also eliminates the student section atmosphere that would normally come with this sectional.

I'd start a new poll but I don't want to bog down the forum. So I have 2 questions.
1) What's more likely to happen: some of the schools that have girls teams but not boys teams at State and/or in these sectional finals where boys matches are going on before them actually find interest in fielding a boys team OR boys volleyball becomes extinct as a WIAA sport because some of these *awesome* decisions being made on the boys volleyball side of things? 2) What is a more incompetent organization, the WIAA or the NCAA?

For question #2 it's obvious that it's the WIAA
For question #1 I am hoping that there is a third option in that the WIAA will see the error in their ways after a couple years of this and go back to the way it was. However, my answer to question #2 contradicts this hope.

Should be an exciting sectional!! Congrats to both

With stats like this I unfortunately don't see them changing their thought process greatly...

Interesting that she only shows "national" numbers. Wonder why she doesn't show Wisconsin only data.
Also, I did a quick look at the Boys schools that were in the state bracket in 2000 (38 teams), 2010 (50 teams) and today (60 teams). In 2000, there were only three schools north of Milwaukee County (Neenah, Kimberly and Manitowoc). In 2010, there were 13 new schools, Manitowoc having dropped the sport. Big additions were Fox Valley teams, plus two Green Bay schools (7 total), the other six from southeast WI In 2019, there were 12 new schools, with the two Green Bay coops having since dropped out. Of the new schools, one is GB Notre Dame; the other 11 from SE WI. There is growth, but not where the WIAA wants to see it.

Putting the sectional in East Troy also eliminates the student section atmosphere that would normally come with this sectional. The ONLY good thing I see with the East Troy location is that the high school is a few minutes off the interstate. I agree the sectional final “atmosphere” will take a big hit in most sectionals due to the odd locations. Folks want to go somewhere familiar when watching a game and not have worry about directions, where to park, where do I enter the building, where is the gym etc. those small things may cause attendance to decline.
