If Sully can get a little more from O2 and rt side they have a real chance to win state. A MUHS rotation error makes is 9-13, GT stuff block on a dink makes it 9-14, GT served long but dinks off the block for the match MUHS loses 10-15

Only one "upset" in the Regional round of the WIAA playoffs last night, and it couldn't have been scripted any better in the match between No. 3 Kenosha Bradford and No. 6 Kenosha Tremper. A little background: This was the third time these two teams met in a best-of-five match in the last 10 days (regular season finale, conference tournament and Regionals). So needless to say, they had each other pretty well scouted.
Bradford took Game 1 pretty easily thanks to about eight service aces by some of their big hitters. It was a back-and-forth Game 2 that went Bradford's way in the end. Then hit game three when setters were getting called for double contact when setting with one hand, players were diving into bleachers and benches to make amazing saves, balls that hit the ceiling were being called out of bounds, phantom net violations were getting called at random times ... the list goes on. One of those random calls happened at 23-23 Game 3 and the ref crew didn't like how Tremper reacted and gave them a red card -- giving Bradford a 24-23 advantage and the serve for match point. From then on out, every point was intense -- even more so than earlier in the set. Great blocks, great saves. It was fantastic. And in the end, Tremper snuck out the victory in Game 3. It was insane.
How many times have you seen it where a controversial call (or something as extreme as a card) changes the course of a match? The fans that I was sitting with at the match even said at the time of the card, "that if Bradford doesn't win in three, this match is going five." Never did we think it would end up being a 15-3 Tremper victory in Game 5. Not at all. What a great match. Tyler Bellmore (senior libero for Bradford) was a beast. Torin Byrnes (sophomore outside for Tremper) probably received 60 percent of his teams sets and was still on fire. Seniors battled illness and jury to be out there for what could have been their last matches. Again, couldn't have been scripted any better.
And for these Kenosha athletes -- many of who know each other so well having grown up with each other, playing club with each other, seeing each other in other sports -- it was a great battle. Not a single player should walk away with their heads down. On a night where this was only one upset during the slate of Regional matches, this was one for the ages. It's too bad that one of these teams had to end their season last night. Great job, fellas!

Anyone foresee an upset(s) tomorrow night? Any injuries or little backstories we might not know about?
I'd be interested to know how coaches feel about waiting to play the Sectional final this year on Saturday. It has always been Tuesday (semis) then Thursday (finals). This gives you a little more time to prepare.

I was told that a senior outside for Pius got a concussion in the last match of the season, maybe the second last. If he is not able to play East over Pius is not an upset. If he is able to play and East wins it is a minor upset since the game is at Pius. The teams are so closely matched that if they played at East, East would be the favorite, if they play at Pius, Pius would be the favorite. The Pius coach is an MVC guy, arguably THE MVC guy and knows what he is doing. The freshman setter and all state middle for East are MVC kids so Pius will know exactly where any chinks in the armor are, and how to mitigate the strengths of these two players that the rest of the team feeds off of. That is what makes this match so interesting to me, on top of the East offense vs the Pius defense storyline.

Sectional Predictions because why not at this point?

BEast over Tosa West in 4 Tosa East over Pius in 4
Love this time of year.
