So the battle of Tosa is tonight at East. I hope I’m wrong but it doesn’t seem quite right to have this before school even starts. Hope there is a good student turnout but I’m skeptical and expecting a small crowd.

I know that West wasn’t super competitive last year and didn’t end up showing at many of the bigger invites. They lost Schumacher and Todd but Hoenan (?) is a decent option. As for East, Markes is their go to, don’t know much beyond that. I’d predict East, just because they were better last year and I don’t think they lost as much.

And Germantown at MUHS is tonight - most likely decide who wins conference. Weird to think that the title will be decided in August.
Tosa v Tosa, slight edge to the home team, Markes for East is the best player on the court but I think first match rustiness will limit how he impacts the game from the middle. Easier for Honan from West to impact the game from the pins.

Tomorrow night Waukesha West plays Kettle Moraine and it should be an exciting 3 set match. Rumor has it that Jon Gulak will be running a 5-1 like last year and will possibly be matched up against USC commit Matthew Spellman (not looking good for KM). Additionally, they are experiencing the loss of 3 starting seniors including the all conference right side Joe Freeman. Waukesha West will most likely win the Classic 8 as they have a strong core of 6 MVC/Sting players along with the possible Lewis commit Webber, they are looking extremely talented this year.

I don’t really think anyone KM has, let alone Gulak, would stop Spellman...

I would not overlook CMH in the Classic 8. Their roster includes at least 7 players who were on either Sting/MVC this past club season.

Anyone have any insight on how any of the matches looked?

East vs West was better than I expected. Great crowd on hand, big student sections for both schools.
Markes is a beast, definitely one of the top players in the state.
Both teams looked better than I expected for the first match of the year, especially West. Really want to see how they both progress and would love to see a rematch in Sectionals, preferably at West.
Officiating/line judging - hope this isn't a sign of what to expect. West got a red card in 5th set on a bad line call. Looked like a few missed calls on lines, but up ref did overturn a few. Not a single ball handling call the entire match. There were definitely a number of lifts/catch & throws that could have been called but weren't.

Thank you for posting and people for providing some insight about teams. We are our only publicity so the more we hear about players and teams from around the state the better. And thank you for posting results. There are no scores posted on wissports.net for the Germantown vs Marquette match and I don't know where else we'd find them as those of us outside Milwaukee won't see them unless there is a site we don't know about.
Hopefully we'll see match results tonight of all the big early season matches. Love to see Indian Trail and Tremper head up to Kimberly and Kaukauna to play them. Anyone know if those are going to be best of 3 or best of 5?
Then great matches to start off in the Classic 8 tonight. Hopefully people post results!

I wasn't there so you may be right but I was told the Germantown vs. MUHS match went 4 sets. From what I heard sets 3 and 4 weren't overly close.
is Markes from East related to the refs (I think that was their last name)?

You are right about MU vs Germantown going to four. I knew that, and for some reason wrote three!
