Doubtful with Haneef at 6'7 on the right side. and metcalf as well. i know. but if oganna continues with the national team, i see her as right side more than on the left.

I have not seen Oganna play before but I will be in LB this week and am looking forward to seeing her in action. After watching Gordon this weekend, I would find it hard to find someone better.

this isn't the first time that two really good players are VERY strong candidates for POY. it happened in '95 and '99 and its probably going to happen again - there will be Co-POYs this year.
HOWEVER there was what happened in 2001...

One only has to look at the numbers to see who the POY should be. I hope they don't decide on Co-POY. Stacey Gordon and Ogonna play the same position, yet Stacey has better stats in EVERY CATEGORY (they are basically even in blocking)!
I love Ogonna.... but come on.... Stacey has averaged almost 2 more points per game. She's taken more swings.... yet has a better hitting %. She's a better server.... and a MUCH better passer and defender.

I love Ogonna, but Stacy has been the best player in the country this season. Stacy is the best player in Big10 history, is 3rd in all time kills and hits .400 and to top it all off, she hasn't gotten 1/2 the credit she deserves. I think Ogonna will get it outright because the player of the year has been in the final four for over 10 years but I don't think there has been a player as good as Stacey who hasn't been in the final four. If Stanford wins it all, Stacey should get player of the year, and Ogonna should get FF MVP, that way both players get the credit they deserve.

Okay - I observed Stacey trying to make all the plays, often yelling at her teammates when errors occur. If looks could kill Stacey would have been on the court by herself. I just know some OSU younger players in person... So what their parents have shared with me: They look at SG as a goddess and are extremely happy to be on the court at the same time with her.... I would say she has been something like playing assistant for OSU. So don't take her concentration and passion of the game as being mean to her younger teammates.

Gorf, honestly: Do you believe any of the voting members has seen or has been ever curious to see any stats comparison?

Setter: Kehoe v. Main. We could call this a push.

You've got to be kidding............................ You're going to have to help me out here. My mindreading is at a 1st grade level. You've also snipped away what I actually said, which was that we COULD call it a push, but I wouldn't. You've also taken my post completely out of its context. But, tell me, what's your point?

As for MVPs or POYs on losing teams, Ohio State's Laura Davis was the Final Four MVP in 1994 even though the Buckeyes did not win. I just read an old issue of Volleyball Mag, it was mentioned that the final four MVP award started in 1996. Too bad Ohio State lost, if Stacey can play against Ogonna, it would be awesome. I think they played against each other in their freshmen year. Stanford won but Gordon won the battle of the freshmen by winning the first AVCA FOY award.

The NCAA made official MVPs since 1996. Before then, I am not too sure. In 1997, Zemaitis from Penn State was the only player to win the MVP without the title. In fact, in 1994, Davis didn't make the NCAA Final Four all tournament team.

We should count Cacciamani too since she was the CO-MVP in 98. Amazingly Burdine is the only non AA who was named MVP (2002), she is also the only non First team AA to win the MVP award (2003). Maybe she could get both this year!!!!!!!!

If I took it out of context sorry. The two are very different. Main doesn't block anywhere near as well as Kehoe and Main also doesn't come close defensively. They are both setters for awesome outside hitters - there you could call it a push.
I understand why you did the comparisons - just don't agree with the opinions......

They are both setters for awesome outside hitters - there you could call it a push. I've actually seen Kehoe as often as Main. Kehoe has played better in the matches I've seen. But I've heard _very_ good things about Main (and obviously LOTS of good things about Kehoe. Well, so far, we _do_ agree on the setter. Let me know what you think about the other positions. I'm curious to hear it. Unless you mean my opinion about Gordon v. Nnamani...
