mewer mcmewerson III -- what an outrageous name! it wasn't his original name. when i adopted him, his shelter name was linus. from there the names went: rheseus, osito, and finally mewer mcmewerson III (mewer for short)

Do cats know their names?
Dogs do; this is obvious. But do cats?

raven didn't care one whit.

When I was 8 or 9 years old, my siblings and I slept over at a cousin's place. They had two cats. In the middle of the night, while I was sleeping, I felt a presence on my bed and so, I opened my eyes and there was a cat sitting on top of my belly staring at me. I could see the glowing eyes. This scared me so shiitless that I jumped up and both the cat and I screamed the loudest scream simultaneously. Never had a good feeling about cats since.

That's what all the stalkers say.

Had a cat once, raised her from a few months old until...not sure when. She was a stray, and I called her Bobbi because her ears were a bit larger like a bobcat when she was smaller. She was quite the character...Bobbi kept playing with my feet in the morning while I was still in bed and not being used to her presence yet, one time I just gave a big kick and I heard a thump. Apparently I kicked poor Bobbi to the wall...she never played with feet in the morning any more afterwards.
Another time I fell asleep on my couch and when I woke up, Bobbi was sleeping on her back on top of my arm, sandwiched between my body and the back of the couch.
Then there was the time I woke up in the morning and Bobbi was sitting on my chest. I looked at her and gave her a morning “meow”, and she kindly replied with a “meow” of her own.
Had to give her up because I went back to school and the apt complex did not allow cats. My mom took her, said Bobbi sat in front of the door and wouldn’t let her go to work until her litter box was cleaned. And every time my mom sat down on the couch Bobbi would come running to her and sit on my mom’s lap.
Then she gave Bobbi to my sister, who already had two cats of her own. Said Bobbi always favored my brother in law, would always sit and be with him. Whenever I visited, Bobbi would come running to me.
Not sure what happened, but my sister had to put Bobbi to sleep. Didn’t even tell me, I only found out months later. Said she had blood in her urine, and she kept over-shooting her litter box when peeing. Guess the vet recommended Bobbi be put to sleep.

I love dogs but cats...not so much.
Actually, no, I do like some cats, like big cats...in the wild. Tigers, Lions, Leopards, Snow Leopards, Cheetah, Jaguar, Clouded Leopards, awesome animals.

My stereotype of cats is that they are aloof, don't care about your existence unless it's feeding time and just prefer to do their own thing than accompany you. So I wonder which cat breeds are more dog-like in behavior?
