My stereotype of cats is that they are aloof, don't care about your existence unless it's feeding time and just prefer to do their own thing than accompany you. So I wonder which cat breeds are more dog-like in behavior? I dont think there is a breed that behaves like a dog, but like dogs, you can train them to be more social with you outside of feeding time. Like giving it snacks while they're sitting in your lap or arms, etc. Every cat I have had a prolonged contact with, whether it was my Bobbi, my sister's cat or high school buddy's cat...I have always found a sweet spot that they just love having scratched. Behind the ear its one, as well as gently rubbing their ears with your thumb and forefinger. But the sweet spot I refer to is somewhere between the middle of their back to the tail...different for each cat. Find it and they will just purrrrrr while you scratch that spot.

The Sokoke breed of cat exhibits many dog like behaviors. I long-termed "cat-sat" for my friend's family Sokoke while they were abroad for a few months. The cat was very calm, would come when called, would run down and wait at the door when someone was entering, would greet a group individually and nuzzle their legs and then lay down next to the group and hang-out, and would walk along-side when we walked down the trail to the beach. He also became besties with my dog and they would play and sleep near each other all the time. Such an awesome kitty. A Sokoke:

True or not?

Cats are, with limited exceptions, solitary animals. Wolves are social pack animals. Even intense selective breeding is only going to go so far to make cats behave like dogs.
(And really, why would you want to? If you want a dog, just get a dog.)

i used to have a black manx named mewer mcmewerson III. i had him for his entire life and i like to talk about him.
after mewer died, i adopted a 12 year old black kitteh named raven. i had her for almost 3 years before she died.
Why not Raven McRavenson?? Didn’t like Raven as much? Smh

I sent this to mln59 in a pm at which time I was informed the board has been infiltrated by felines and that it should be appropriately posted. So here it is. The reply was also deemed worthy of sharing. Never have I posted so much about cats. 😐
