Watched a lot of videos USC posted today and didn’t see Sam Lewis playing at all on either team. Any idea where he is?

Browning is most likely one of the starting outsides. Had a nice freshman season and I think he's easily going to be leading this team for the next 3 years.
I imagine Hall still owns the starting setter spot.

***Assuming everyone is healthy come season time***
S - Chris Hall O1 - Simon Gallas M2 - Kyle Gear RS - Billy Fauntleroy/Clay Dickinson O2 - Brandon Browning M1 - Sam Lewis L - Cole Paxson
or
S - Chris Hall O1 - Simon Gallas M2 - Vecas Lewin/Liam Schroeder Opp - Kyle Gear O2 - Brandon Browning M1 - Sam Lewis L - Cole Paxson
Gus Acord will compete for the Libero position and Max Beck could compete for a Middle position as well.

Would someone mind explaining what the main differences are to being a OH1 vs OH2, besides the fact that OH 1 is likely the better player? Or is that not always the case?

Would someone mind explaining what the main differences are to being a OH1 vs OH2, besides the fact that OH 1 is likely the better player? Or is that not always the case? OH1 will typically get the most front row swings out of system if the setter is front row and pulled off the net(harder to set middle). They have 2/3 front row rotations with a front row setter (5-1) compared to the OH2. Also easier imo to hide the OH1 as a passer if you have better passers in your OPP/DS, and they can focus on swinging. Most teams have their OH2 stacked to the left All front row rotations but the OH1 hits on the right in most Rotation 1s. Pretty much everything is geared towards their ability to score from different places.

OH1 commonly next to setter in 5-1. In high level mens (teams with an opp that is same effective front or back row) difference is which OH can hit right side better will play OH1 and also often the better hitter of the two. Depends on teams but a good example would be last year SVT on hawaii is OH1 and Cowell OH2, those are very typical type players for each position. On many womens teams and other teams with no back row threats this is even more the rule as well as a M1 playing next to setter who can back slide.
