I had heard that UMKC had a pretty strong pool and finalist to fill the assistant coach position and that this job is all wrapped up, but no news yet on who. Anyone hear anything about it?

Well... That's a thing that happened... Ew Yeah, that's kind of alarming. He was a highly regarded coach around those parts.

In poking around a little, I have come to realize that I actually attended the game that they played the day that he was arrested, yet I was completely oblivious to all of this. I just sorta remember that he wasn't there, and thinking that he must have retired and I missed it.

I am very curious as to what the public think the hiring cycle is going to be like now, with fall sports for most being pushed to spring, are those coaches going to be furloughed until they can practice, what about the ones that already were? Will AD's be more willing to hold onto coaches going from a spring season to a fall season? Or do we think the current situation will have more coaches leave on their own, whether it be because of "lack of leadership" from the AD's or conferences, or because of health reasons.
I really do find the economics of how the hiring cycle goes from year to year fascinating, and now a wrench has been thrown into the wheel and I am just curious as to how others view the upcoming year.

Schools that have student-athletes on campus have the option to practice, so those coaches may still have things to do. Even without practice, there are some things head coaches could potentially do. The bigger question is what happens to Asst Coaches and GAs.
Most schools have made hires recently. There might be a JuCo who has not and Stephens College (NAIA) has not hired. Stephens has students moving in this weekend and even though NAIA is delaying season, confernece is planning on playing this fall. So, Stephens will have to move quickly unless they decide to wait like fellow confernece member Lyon (only school in the league delaying season).

Not saying it won't happen, but if coaches get furloughed for the entire fall, players will bail and you'll have no recruiting class for the next year. The department would have to be extremely desperate to make that kind of move with such bad long-term implications. And if they are that desperate, I'd think they'd just cut the program.
