It's been mentioned on here that the 2021 recruits we offered wanted to play immediately, and they didn't see that happening at Texas due to youthful depth at their positions; so, those recruits committed elsewhere. Coaching staff can be very selective with only one scholarship available for 2021 with Ashley Shook being the only senior at Texas for the coming season. It wouldn't surprise me if the pandemic causes an in-state recruit who committed to an out-of-state school over Texas to reconsider their verbal commitment and decide they want to play college closer to home and family. In all honestly, I can't even determine at which position a 2021 addition (out of high school) would be ideal. Perhaps the coaching staff is still holding out for Kami Miner (even though just about everyone believes she is Stanford-bound); but, it is already mid-June for Miner not to have publicly committed, and the early signing period is only 5 months away. I don't know how the future recruiting classes will ever get "balanced" numbers-wise, especially if we don't sign a 2021 recruit; it appears incoming 2020 Madison Williams will likely take a medical redshirt season, so that does help the numbers a bit. Obviously, the transfer portal has changed the landscape immensely. And, it's almost imperative to keep an open scholarship available for an elite incoming transfer; that's just not as easy as it sounds with only having 12 scholarships total to award. For 2022, we'll have scholarships vacated by Eggleston, Davis, Butler, Petersen, and possibly Gabriel (if she is on 'ship). So, I'd expect a signing class of 3-4 players. OH would seem like a huge necessity; but, the 2022 OH signees would be batting Melanie Parra and Madison Williams for those two starting spots. Are you assuming that Gabriel is still not on scholarship with one 2021 ship open? I thought that Davis likely took the last open ship. Two different years. One scholarship open for 2021 would be the one vacated by senior Ashley Shook. That doesn't affect the 2020 roster as it pertains to Gabriel.
I do believe Capri Davis took the last open 'ship for 2020 (Shook, Eggleston, Davis, Butler, Petersen, Gabriel, O'Neal, Fields, Phillips, Williams, Iosia, Cabello, and Parra = 13). That's why I don't think there is a scholarship open for Morgan O'Brien. Heck, maybe it's Asjia O'Neal who is not on scholarship due to having a former NBA player for a Dad).
I thought Gabriel would have been awarded a scholarship for 2019 based on her performance in 2018; but, seems like folks on here are divided on her scholarship status. Since she set the entire 2019 season, I'd assume for sure she is going to be on scholarship for 2020. But, I'm also not privy to her family's financial situation (and if being on scholarship is an issue for them).

The timeline would make sense if Cabello wins the starting job this year or if Swindle wants to redshirt her first year. I wouldn't count swindle out at Nebraska just yet. Kennedi is probably going to redshirt her first year so that means she’s playing all the way to 2025. I don’t see an elite setter like swindle waiting 3 years to only play 2...

Lol I also wouldn't be surprised. Although I know Asjia is on scholarship because she has said it on ig live but based on the size of her house they could pay every players tuition if they wanted to lol. I am curious to know how all of this works out and what we are looking for in 2022 recruits. I just really miss volleyball ☹ I can't even count how many times I have watched every texas volleyball video on YouTube.

Yes. That was my point. Obviously, someone I listed will not be on scholarship.
Capri Davis joined after the 2020 recruits (except Melanie Parra) signed in November, but enrolled in the Spring. We still haven't seen any official release from Texas that Parra signed, or will be joining the volleyball program for the 2020 season.

If we are pursuing 2022 OH Jordan Middleton out of Arizona, I can see why

Everyone is pursuing her. Best overall 2022. Not sure if she’ll be pulled away from the PAC-12, but anything’s possible.

As well as Adonia Faumuina and Mari Singletary. If we land all 3 then we will have without a doubt the best recruiting class in the country. Middleton will take more convincing but Texas is high on her list. As for Singletary and Faumuina Texas is in a great position to land both of them.

Do you know if any of them will make a decision in the near future or are they waiting until the fall?

My impression was that Faumuina was more likely to stay near home

My impression was that Faumuina was more likely to stay near home It's between USC, Texas and oregon. Really comes down to us and USC. If Jerrit and the staff keep pushing hard then we might just scoop her up. She is close to Losia so I think that also helps our chances of getting her to come to Texas.

Because of this virus I think some might wait until the fall or a later date but some might want to get it out of the way. As for those three I am not really sure when they plan on committing but once I find out I will post it here.
