Alec Roethe started following Hunt recently… That would be a big steal from Ohio State Is she verbally committed to Ohio State? Her status on her twitter page shows "uncommitted" twitter.com/AlecRothe

my dream is for Diana Brown to transfer in from Illinois that’ll be her 6th year of college ball. I’m curious if she’ll use it or go pro. I have always admired her but she doesn’t have the hitters tbh She has a redshirt year (playing behind Poulter) as well as her COVID year. I would hope she would do one year at Texas with Swindle, then giving Ella the keys come 2024.

Penn State will also be a factor. Is that because of family or other personal ties? Ohio State already committed a MB, I don’t think they are getting Alec. It seems like Purdue, Penn State, Texas, and Stanford are in the running. She doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to decide.

Does anyone know if Auburn is for sure on scholarship? I know she’s from out of state so she most likely is, but she’s ranked pretty far below the other four IIRC

Does anyone know if Auburn is for sure on scholarship? I know she’s from out of state so she most likely is, but she’s ranked pretty far below the other four IIRC We have 14 scholarship level players currently with only 12 spots. And while we can guess who the two outliers are, it’s only guessing. There’s a local 2024 libero committed to Texas that the family insists has a scholarship but a couple of posters on here have told me she doesn’t. I’ve never found scholarship information surrounding the roster to be much more than a guess on here.

I don't understand the pride in insisting that they are on scholarship. Yeah, probably academic (scholarship), but not volleyball.

I’ve figured out I don’t care that much. Volleyball is the only sport I’ve ever followed where it’s this difficult to ascertain the scholarship situation. This year has only emphasized it. There’s no true insiders that post on here regularly the way I see in other sports. The best we have is regular attendees of Point Texas, and it’s akways fun to glean whatever information is passed on there. Or the little tidbits and foreshadowings we get such as the Larson/Hunt hirings or horns1 giving us a heads up about the beach volleyball announcement. But for the most part I feel like we play the role of mushrooms in the dark. The times I primarily comment on it are like this, when someone is looking for insight on the scholarships available, when as far as I’m concerned none of us have demonstrated they really have a clue, especially if we’ve figured out a way to have 14 scholarship players on the roster while everyone else gets 12. I mean, there are good educated guesses. horns1 tends to do my favorite ones. But it’s just constantly shown we really don’t know.

There's a rumor that a certain top 2023 libero is choosing between Nebraska and Texas.

I know she’s from out of state so she most likely is, but she’s ranked pretty far below the other four IIRC My purely (un)educated guess has been that she would not be on scholarship her first season at Texas; that is based on the large number of 2023 recruits currently committed, and the overall scholarship roster allotment. Perhaps we'll find out something more definite based on the official 2023 signing class release from Texas come November 9 or so.

Is there a limit to the number of years a scholarship player can be on scholarship? Ie for a redshirted player, can it be 5 years? I'm ignoring Covid years.
Based on what some parents and coaches have been saying on a couple of other threads, it seems that less-than-4 year offers are happening more frequently as coaches try to maintain flexibility for transfers.
