I was curious about Rothe since I know nothing about recruits until they're mentioned on VT. However, I did have a daughter play HS and club VB. Google has informed me that she's a second team all-Ohio player. A video link of her highlights shows she plays 6-rotations and there are several shots of her doing a back row attacks! I had to remind myself she's listed as MB, but then she's probably the best player on the team and coach wants her on the court as much as possible.
These videos remind me, nostagically, of when my daughter played. Two dads would dutifully set up their ipads on tripods at the end of the court and swap ends with every set. Dads recording and cutting up the highlights for their daughters to try to get views from coaches. The two daughters did eventually go to play at D1. One gave up the sport after the first year and transferred back to UT to be pre-med. She was salutorian for her graduating class.
It's funny. When watching HS games of players that Texas has interest in, the easiest thing is to typically "look for the tallest player in the huddle" to find the OH or MB we might be interested in.
I enjoyed reading that. Lots of memories in that post. That’s being a great Dad. Just one clarification. Are you saying your daughter was salutatorian of her high school class or her graduating class at UT? Sorry, that was misleading. No, my daughter was neither a D1 player or salutorian.
One went to Prairie View A&M purely for the scholarship as her family didn't have the means for paying for college. However, she got very little playing time and I don't think she was happy there. Now at UT in pre-med and shows up in the "Hellraisers" group with letters painted over her t-shirt.
The other went to Loyola of New Orleans to play.

With the recent signed letter of intents, here's what we have: We have five leaving seniors and five incoming freshman. FR OPP - Auburn Thomkinson (Carlsbad, CA) OH - Sydney Helmers (Louisville, KY) S - Ella Swindle (Columbia, MO) MB - Nya Bunton (Louisville, KY) OPP/MB - Jordyn Byrd (Sarasota, FL) SO L/DS - Emma Halter MB - Marianna Singletary OH - Kenna Miller OPP - Devin Kahahawai S - Marina Crownover JR MB - Deandra Pierce, OH - Melanie Parra, OH - Madi Skinner L/DS - Keonilei Akana L/DS - Reilly Heinrich SR MB - Bella Bergmark, RS MB/OPP - Molly Phillips MB - Asjia O'Neal In terms of transfer for next year, I have a feeling we will get a transfer setter or OH if Parra does decide to transfer. Honestly, if Parra leaves I think the main focus will be to bring in a setter to compete with Swindle. We already have a traffic jam on the pins no use in adding in a transfer.

Unless a player like Wucherer, Landfair, Luper, etc. transfer (no inside knowledge here just examples). But that’s true for any elite player at their position. If Murphy, Murr, Scott were to transfer, I bet we would still go after them as well. All of these are just examples - none of them are transferring AFAIK.

You say that in a vacuum. However, if a crazy good OH ends up in the Portal (I'm looking at you, Taylor Landfair) all bets are off.

Macaria Spears (announced today as the 2022 Dallas Morning News Player of the Year) was in attendance today. That would explain why she started following Coach Elliott, Podraza, and Londot out on Instagram (today).

But now at Plano Prestonwood Christian, Mitchell thinks his current superstar, sophomore outside hitter Macaria Spears, is on a different level. “She is amazing,” he said. “In 21 years of coaching, she is the best player I’ve ever coached. I’ve had Ebony and Andie, and this kid is better than all of them.” “She is strong, she is athletic, she can hit from all three positions, she can play all six rotations, so she plays defense, too, and she has a killer jump serve,” Mitchell said. “But something I told her dad the other day is, this kid is one of the most amazing players to come through the D-FW Metroplex, but she is an even better kid. She is always smiling, always coachable, wants to learn the game, has a smile that lights up a room, great personality. She is special.” www.dallasnews.com/high-school-sports/volleyball/2022/12/08/the-dallas-morning-news-2022-volleyball-player-of-the-year-prestonwoods-macaria-spears/

Does anybody know anything about Campbell Flynn? I noticed Texas vb, hunt, JE and Sullivan all follow her with follow backs. She’d be a 2025 (I believe)

Just to be frank, my sources told me a little while back that Flynn to Nebraska is basically just a matter of waiting for the allowed verbal commit date.
For what it's worth, these types of things can change and I'm not claiming to be able to predict the future.
