So it's possible that Helmers doesn't know the others or know them well... IIRC, the official recruiting visit in 2021 for the Stanford match, the others plus Devin all came, so they would have met then. But I don't think Helmers took her visit at the same time

Before the Baylor game JE said: "We have a recruit visiting tonight as well as the 2023 and 2024 recruits, so let's show how great Gregory can be" I was scanning the section where recruits usually sit. In the past, during warmups, you see recruits sitting on the team bench while the players are warming up. But since we were in the Point Texas club, by the time we got into our seats I couldn't spot any "civilians" sitting on the bench. Here is a picture of 3 of the 2023 recruits (Green) and possibly (Pink) a future 2024 recruit? (highly unlikely because she was in the Point Texas club and having recruits talk to a mass of Longhorn fans would be a no-no, I think): I believe left-to-right it's: Tompkinson, Bunton, Swindle But here is a more intriguing candidate for a recruit: She had the requisites I've seen in past recruits: 1. She's wearing basic Texas merch 2. She left the arena with a bag of Texas merch, as if it were handed to her by the staff 3. She didn't cheer or do the standard Texas things like hook-em 4. Didn't pay 100% attention to the game (her Dad did), was looking down on her phone half the time Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about! Thoughts anyone?
Candidate 1 was very tall and slender. Candidate was short, almost shorter than me!
After looking at O’Neal’s story, I was right in thinking that the man in the gray demon jacket in the second pic is Jared Dudley. |

I was curious about Rothe since I know nothing about recruits until they're mentioned on VT. However, I did have a daughter play HS and club VB. Google has informed me that she's a second team all-Ohio player. A video link of her highlights shows she plays 6-rotations and there are several shots of her doing a back row attacks! I had to remind myself she's listed as MB, but then she's probably the best player on the team and coach wants her on the court as much as possible.
These videos remind me, nostagically, of when my daughter played. Two dads would dutifully set up their ipads on tripods at the end of the court and swap ends with every set. Dads recording and cutting up the highlights for their daughters to try to get views from coaches. The two daughters did eventually go to play at D1. One gave up the sport after the first year and transferred back to UT to be pre-med. She was salutorian for her graduating class.
It's funny. When watching HS games of players that Texas has interest in, the easiest thing is to typically "look for the tallest player in the huddle" to find the OH or MB we might be interested in.

That is indeed Alex Rothe. I hope she does commit to Texas. Her current position is MB in line ups but she's an ATHLETE.

I enjoyed reading that. Lots of memories in that post. That’s being a great Dad. Just one clarification. Are you saying your daughter was salutatorian of her high school class or her graduating class at UT? |
