Since volleyball recruiting is being discussed here, this information might be newsworthy here. Maggie Mendelson, the 6-5 basketball/volleyball national recruit visited officially Nebraska this weekend. According to a volleytalk poster over on the Nebraska thread. I believe wherever she goes she has to be on basketball scholarship. Nebraska, currently, has no scholarships left for the 2023 or 2022 class. I think Maggie might or will visit Texas, Stanford or some other schools. IDK so anyone with more concrete information can join in. Good luck, except if you play Nebraska, and good health this year in volleyball. I find it hard to imagine that with just replacing your libero, Texas is the the favorite this year in volleyball.

I think if Texas lands any of these 4 recruits. It would be a great get.

Fall of 2023 Predictions Historically, we will have a transfer/leave the team once a year. Seniors - 2020 Recruits- depends if they take an extra year 1 S(1) - Cabello 2 OH(1) - Williams 3 OH(2) - Parra 4 L/DS(1) - Heinrich 5 L/DS(2) - Iosia [O'Neal and Phillips could take 2023 as their extra year correct?] Junior - 2021 Recruits: 6 MB (1) - Deandra Pierce (Austin, TX) depends if she takes an extra year S - Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres (Honolulu, HI) - transfer from Utah, 2 years of eligibility Sophomore - 2022 Recruits 7 L/DS (3) - Emma Halter (Indianapolis, IN) 8 MB (2)- Marianna Singletary (Charleston, SC) 9 OH (3)- Kenna Miller (Justin, TX) Freshman - 2023 Recruits 10 OPP (1) - Auburn Thomkinson (Carlsbad, CA) 11 OH (4) - Sydney Helmers (Louisville, KY)12 13 14
3 spots available as historically in the past couple of years, we've had 14/15 players in our roster: 2nd S - High Ranking Recruits Available - Ella Swindle 3rd MB - High Ranking Recruits Available - Mendleson/Byrd/Bunton 5th OH or 2nd Opp - High Ranking Recruits Available - Devin ('22)/Blyashov (Stanford Leaning) 4th L/DS - Walk-on? Let me know what y'all think. Do we have the numbers/need to add more than one of Mendleson/Byrd/Bunton ? I'm assuming that since both Byrd and Bunton were visiting officially this weekend, the coaching staff wants them both to come to Texas.

We had a player go volleyball -> basketball -> volleyball -> transfer to New Mexico for basketball where she was originally from. There's pretty tight rules on what you can do when you're on a basketball scholarship wanting to also play volleyball.
As for "replacing your libero" they really switched off last year. More like 40(Iosia)-60(O'Brien).

It does seem that one of the '23 scholarships must go to a setter. Who is out there besides Swindle? Or is Swindle leaning strongly to Texas?

Since we're joining the SEC, it would be great to add elite 2023 recruits from Florida, Kentucky, and Missouri to go along with our 2022 recruit from South Carolina.
