Nebraska seems to be a little congested with their pins IMO This year? There's only 5 pins on the roster, three playing at any given time. That's only two backup options for 3 spots. It'll be the same number next year too with Sun leaving and a freshman coming in. Don't wanna hijack the thread, just thought that was an odd take unless you mean possibly years down the road. This isn't hijacking. One of the things I love about volleytalk is the fans of all the different programs, plus a ton of people who aren't necessarily fans of any program. They genuinely just love volleyball. Plenty of talk in Texas recruiting threads about Nebraska, and vice versa. Hijacking is if suddenly Nebraska fans are talking about Nebraska recruiting on the Texas thread. This isn't that. Please comment any time you feel it's appropriate.

To add on to what I said, they have top 5 recruits benched (Batenhorst and Krause) in the pins. They're about to have Kubik, Murray, and Jurevicius(?) in the next two years. It's not a problem. I'm just saying it might be good to have a middle instead of a pin? It's just my opinion The Huskers haven't forgotten the middle hitters, with one top middle in each class 4 years running from 2020-2023. Kalynn Meyer, Rylee Gray, Bekka Allick and Andi Jackson were all highly sought after.

I think what’s most interesting to me is with all the volleyball talent in state, they went out of state for all the spots. Not a criticism. It’s just interesting. I’m all for getting the best players possible regardless where they’re from. Plenty of Texas HS players in the future. I am so happy Jerritt will go anywhere to recruit the best volleyball players. For whatever reasons (timing, preference, depth charts, needs), some of the elite in-state recruits have chosen to leave the state (and some chose Baylor). Not for sure on specifically who we targeted in-state. But, here is what we've brought in recently, and for the future: 2023Nya Bunton - Kentucky Sydney Helmers - Kentucky Auburn Tomkinson - California Ella Swindle - Missouri 2022Marianna Singletary - South Carolina Emma Halter - Indiana McKenna - Texas 2021
Saige Torres - Hawaii 2020Nalani Iosia - California Melanie Parra - Mexico Adhu Malual - Italy Naomi Cabello - Florida Madison Williams - Texas Reilly Heinrich - Texas Morgan O'Brien - Illinois 2019Skylar Fields - Texas Molly Phillips - Texas 2018Logan Eggleston - Tennessee Asjia O'Neal - Texas Sydney Petersen - Iowa Jhenna Gabriel - Hawaii Katarina Luketic - Croatia

Right now, the big question is if Meddleson will go to Nebraska, Stanford, or Texas.

Nice get. I know Nebraska was recruiting her for awhile. Kind of pay back for some of the premier Texas volleyball players migrating to Kentucky. Of course, I don’t know if those athletes were the top choices for the Texas staff.

That's a stunning list to me, horns1. I knew all that, but you list it like that and it hits a bit different. I guess it's because all four being from out of state in 2023 really solidifies it. I laugh at the Morgan O'Brien from Illinois. I mean, it's not wrong. It's like found money between the couch cushions and saying where you originally got it from.

When do these rankings change? How much do they change? It has been August 2020 since that ranking has been released.

Transfer or not, she's from out of state. We'll see if Devin Kahahawai and/or Jordyn Byrd provide two more out-of-state players to our future rosters.

We're not entirely sure if Jerritt's post meant 2 or 3 recruits hahaha

Assuming she wants to play basketball, it has to be at a school willing to extend a basketball scholarship for a 2 sport athlete.

Yeah, it's not the transfer part I'm commenting on. It's the fact she enrolled at UT's grad school without the volleyball staff knowing about it, and recruiting her to come play after the fact. I'm all for getting both. Fishes and loaves!

The rankings don't change after they have been ranked in their respective year? Honestly, it doesn't mater. It's the development and potential.

Numbers obviously getting tight (and not just for us, but other schools, as well). The speculation that she'd want to also play basketball in college is intriguing; and, that means that the hoops team would have to have an available scholarship for her.
