It's like war. It never changes. Wait, really? The rankings don't change after they have been ranked in their respective year? Honestly, it doesn't mater. It's the development and potential. No, I'm making a facetious Fallout video game reference. It's the franchise tagline.

Transfer or not, she's from out of state. We'll see if Devin Kahahawai and/or Jordyn Byrd provide two more out-of-state players to our future rosters. Yeah, it's not the transfer part I'm commenting on. It's the fact she enrolled at UT's grad school without the volleyball staff knowing about it, and recruiting her to come play after the fact. I'm all for getting both. Fishes and loaves! I get it. My focus is on that she's not an in-state player who grew up dreaming of playing for Texas one day.

The Huskers haven't forgotten the middle hitters, with one top middle in each class 4 years running from 2020-2023. Kalynn Meyer, Rylee Gray, Bekka Allick and Andi Jackson were all highly sought after. I don't disagree with any of that. Right now, the big question is if Meddleson will go to Nebraska, Stanford, or Texas. I'm sure all of those teams would love to have her, if she chooses Nebraska it might have to be on a Basketball scholarship. Playing two sports on the D1 level, it would be tough to excel at either, so we will have to see.

Numbers obviously getting tight (and not just for us, but other schools, as well). The speculation that she'd want to also play basketball in college is intriguing; and, that means that the hoops team would have to have an available scholarship for her. It also means she wouldn't count against the scholarships for volleyball. I don't know how good she is in basketball. She'd have to be REALLY good for Vic to be willing to hand her over to volleyball every year only to get her back for conference play. But none of that is up to me. Not to mention all the offseason work in both sports. But I don't know enough about her talent level to comment on it.

The way the NCAA views it, they don't want schools to hide players in lesser revenue sports to bulk up numbers in more prestigious sports. The classic example is track and field for football, but the NCAA basically has a heirarchy already established. For example, if you play football and basketball, it has to be a football scholarship. And full scholarship sport versus a partial scholarship sport - say, volleyball versus crew - and it has to be volleyball. Since women's basketball is higher on the heirarchy than volleyball, even though they're both full scholarship sports, basketball has to take the hit.

Plus, there are no Volleyball scholarships left at Nebraska until 2024 without transfers if she wanted to go full time Volleyball.

That's the rumor, Coach Cook said they had a visit, but of course he couldn't say who it was.

I know she just finished up with USA Basketball winning the gold at the americas cup and was leading scorer one game. Just in time to join USA volleyball. That’s never been done that I can find??? National team in two sports. Anyone else find any contrary info?

Two great gets for Texas. Seems the NE commits for ‘23 are fairly close with the two of them too. Always nice seeing the athletes support each other.
