I'm not talking about Parra. I'm talking about anyone on the roster. The bottom line is we have no idea what the staff is thinking regarding scholarship numbers. I've never found speculation to be all that productive, although it's going to happen regardless. I always use the phrase "fishes and loaves" when these types of topics come up. Just like Jesus at the Sermon on the Mount, when no one had any idea how the multitudes were going to be fed, somehow there was enough. If there wasn't speculation, message boards like this would stay in business. You are correct that JE has a plan which usually involves one of "our" assumptions being wrong. My best guess for this is that either one of the assumed super senior returnees isn't returning or one of them won't be on an athletic scholarship.

Only that it's rarely productive when it comes to how to make scholarship numbers work. At its heart, it's about fans discussing which member/members of the team won't actually be around any more, without knowing all the facts.

Skylar commented, "waiting for this irl" on Byrd's post above. I doubt she'd say that if it wasn't official that Byrd was coming to Texas right? maybe I'm just reading too deep into this.

Lots of current Texas players and future signees commented on Byrd's IG post. FYI -- there's nothing technically "official" about a verbal commitment.

Tonya Johnson is the recruiting coordinator for the staff. She said in the last Point Texas club that volleyball recruiting is a sport that, although players commit (unofficially, but publicly) 2 years ahead, they rarely if ever flip to another school between that commitment and signing day a year-ish later (Nov). She said she can go to bed without fretting about someone trying to sway a commit away from Texas.

I recall Chiaka Ogbogu decommitting from Cal and deciding she would sign with Texas; think that was the only occurrence. As far as Texas losing verbal commitments, I vaguely recall rumors that Kelly Murphy had verbally committed to Texas (perhaps not publicly), but ultimately signing with Florida. Could be confusing her with someone else, though. So, yeah, volleyball seems to have less decommitments that many other sports.
