kb808 is a bitter Hawaii fan. I get it. I'm a bitter Texas football fan. I was a bitter men's basketball fan until this offseason. Hawaii was one of the top programs in the country with amazing community support. Now they watch any number of programs get better talent year after year, while they scratch out the ability to simply get into the tournament. Texas just got a commitment from the best 2022 playing from the islands. It's not fun. It's also not fun engaging with a bitter fan, regardless of their reasons for being that way. But I do get it.

2023 Recruit: OPP - Auburn Thomkinson (Carlsbad, CA) OH - Sydney Helmers (Louisville, KY) S - Ella Swindle (Columbia, MO) MB - Nya Bunton (Louisville, KY)
*Assuming walk-on status
I see a lot of good players riding the bench.. Top programs (Nebraska, Texas, Stanford, Wisconsin, Florida) have top players riding the bench right now and is not uncommon. They somehow keep them on for the ride.

Insane that Stanford was Swindle’s number 2. Imagine a roster with her as a freshman, Miner and Greene as juniors, Tufuga as a senior, and Xu as a potential fifth year. Like. Why, Kevin? That’s a lot of good hands on the bench. Maybe he wants to play a 4-3 in 2023.

Yes, it is insane to have 4 dynamic setters.

Where did you get this info from? It’s in the linked article a page back. Ok just went looking and couldn’t find the article for some reason, but it was a quote from her commitment in a St. Louis area paper. It said she was deciding between Kentucky, Stanford, Texas, and Wisconsin and it was down to TX and Stanford at the end.

As a parent, I might be wondering where my kid is fitting in to that lineup? The players that commit know that top programs will always have top caliber talents. It will make them earn their spot into the court. They know they might have to put in time and sacrifice before they get court time.

Texas, Stanford, and Nebraska are two easier places to recruit to in college volleyball. I sometimes wonder how well those coaches would fair at Clemson, Michigan State, Arizona State, Syracuse, or Texas Tech. What were toughest challenges for each coach in the past? What head job did Elliott, Hambly, or Cook have prior to current jobs? I would say they would recruit better than the current coaches at those schools and those coaches would not recruit near as well at Texas, Stanford, or Nebraska. You sound like another jealous fan of a different school.

You can see it clearly in your posting history. As far as I'm concerned, join the legions of fans with penis envy regarding Texas. I don't care. There's a club for people like you. They even hand out jackets.

After Mick Haley came to the Texas administration with an opportunity to coach the national team and tried to negotiate a better salary/resources for the program, and the admins told him to take a hike, Texas went through a not so great period. Jim Moore (the current head coach at Oregon) went 84-38 over 4 years, with each season getting progressively worse, ending with a 10-18 record in his last season. Then he was fired. Coach Elliot was the interim head coach at USC for two years, while Mick Haley, who had been hired by the Trojans to take the spot after his tenure with the national team was done, prepared for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He took USC to the Final Four in his second season, and then subsequently was hired by Texas after Haley returned from the Olympics to take the head job. In his first three years Elliot went 55-37, finished no higher than 4th in conference, had 2 second round exits and one year where the team didn't make the tournament. The next 3 years the program went 74-17, with an Elite Eight and Final Four appearance. Since the 2007 season the Texas program under Elliot's leadership has finished no lower than 2nd, and has won or shared the conference title 12 out of 14 years. They have made 4 Elite Eights, 10 Final Four runs, 4 runner ups, and one national championship. The program was not in a good place when Elliot took over. He is the one who has built it up to be the monster it is. You should ask Stanford or Nebraska fans about Hambly or Cook. Edit: Jim Moore was fired from Oregon in 2017 following accusations of mistreatment of his players.
