Not that we all don't look forward to the future (way too far in advance), but let's just enjoy Jordyn's verbal commitment from today and what a talented 2023 recruiting class we'll be signing in November 2022. Lots of moving parts will probably happen before they step foot on campus, as attrition is a very common thing these days.
But, I agree that if Iosia doesn't plan to play in 2023 2024 (as a super senior), then it would make sense that we'd need another (scholarship) Libero/DS to be part of the roster in addition to 2022 Emma Halter. All other positions seem to be solid on the depth chart.

Talk about a stacked 2023 class! OPP -6'4 Auburn Tomkinson OH - 6'4 Sydney Helmers S - 6'2 Ella Swindle MB - 6'4 Nya Bunton OH/MB/OPP - 6'4 Jordyn Byrd That has to be our tallest recruiting class ever. Tomkinson might even be listed at 6'5 by some sites.

Very unusual that only 1 of the 9 commitments for 2022 & 2023 is a player for the state of Texas. But, Jerritt has proven that he'll recruit anywhere (near/far) to fill the roster needs and bring the most talented players he can to Texas..
It's probably just a coincidence, but getting 2022 players from states in the SEC region (Kentucky, Florida, and Missouri) to go along with 2022 Singletary (South Carolina) will allow these players to have a homecoming once we start playing in the SEC (I'm guessing 2023).
Thinking back to the Stanford recruiting weekend, I found it interesting that all 4 recruits which came in for official visits (Devan, Nyah, Jordyn, and Ella) were all uncommitted at the time. None of the 2022 or 2023 recruits already committed to Texas were taking official visits that weekend. I'm guessing that was by design. Not even Bunton's club teammate (Sydney Helmers) took her official visit that weekend.
I do recall back in the day that Jerritt would bring in certain recruits (signees) for their official visits during Thanksgiving weekend. But, we have no matches at home that weekend. So, time will tell when the other recruits who have already verbally committed come to Austin for their official visits.

I mean, we must be out of scholarships by now... Only 12 scholarships the year of 2023 Which would be the max🙃 don’t know why I was thinking it was 13 A DS recruit is going to be a non-scholarship player, so we likely won't see any sort of announcement until they are accepted for admission.

The only players where the class was adjusted on the roster were players in their last year of eligibility. None of O'Neal (redshirt junior), juniors, and sophomores had their class changed.

These days, I don't assume any player (in any sport) is gonna stay all 4 years, let alone 5 years. Even if Iosia was planning (right now) to play in 2024, so much can change between now and then.

Prior to Iosia signing in November 2019, Jerritt had typically only had one Libero/DS on scholarship. But, that changed as we've had Petersen and Iosia the last 2 seasons. Next year it appears Halter and Iosia will both be on scholarship. So, after Iosia departs, that's when I'd expect a second scholarship DS/Libero. I guess there's always the chance a DS joins who isn't on scholarship their first season, but perhaps will be in subsequent seasons.

Was really referencing a DS prospect like Heinrich that will be a non-scholarship player for several years or even their entire career.

Since Heinrich's not getting much playing time (unlike Claire Hahn and Autumn Rounsaville who played in just about every match of their 4-year careers despite not being on scholarship), I see the non-scholarship DS kind of being a very rare occurrence moving forward if Elliott plans on 2 scholarship Liberos/DS on future rosters.
