Didn’t 4 recruits commit shortly after attending the Stanford game which was loud. Kids commit for a host of reasons but I like to believe the atmosphere in Gregory helped. Yes indeed! Fun tidbit: after the Stanford match, I went to the Co-op to get some new gear, and ran into some of the coaching staff with the recruits and their parents. The Co-op was crowded for a Sunday afternoon, so I imagine having the place busy with a lot of volleyball fans also helped to make a positive impression.

Does anyone know anything about about our setter situation for the 2023 season? Both Gabriel and SKT graduate after the 2022 season and I know Swindle is coming in for 2023 season. Makes me a little nervous not having backup setters in the roster. I’m thinking JE will go into the portal next season and find a setter to challenge Swindle for the starting position.
Regardless, it seems like the setter for 2023 will be new and have to adjust before the season begins.

Both are in grad school so I am assuming that they will wait until after the spring to go pro if they choose. Both Cabello & Shook came in a semester early. If both SKT and gabriel stay in the spring then I think that Swindle coming in the spring to learn and train under them would be a good idea. If not, then I think an experienced transfer setter for 2023 would be an ideal plan.

She waited until Fall camp 2017 (August) because she wanted to play the summer with her club team. While that was her individual decision, it hurt the Texas team as there just wasn't much time for her to gel with her hitters in 3 weeks of practice.

I saw her play in a few spring sets and then never again in the Fall. I have always wondered how good she was. I never saw her play in 2017, but I think back to our passing woes from 17-19 and wondered if she would have made a difference.

I knew she was a walkon, but was still optimistic we had other options come fall if we needed help in the back. But, those were spring games over a handful of sets.
