Londot is averaging 4.86 kills per set, 2.5 digs per set, and is passing over a 2. she's an incredible option. i really dont see rutherford entering the portal from kentucky but i guess crazier things have happened. fischer would be #1 on my list though if she were to enter the portal. granted, she's already transferred once. she might like the freedom georgia gives her. hell, i wouldnt be surprised if they found a way to have her on the court as a 6ro middle next season I know people are probably manifesting Lauenstein, but I’m manifesting Londot entering the portal and landing in Texas. She experienced the full potential of Gregory last season. That inspired Fleck to eventually come to Texas, so maybe the same for Londont? People are also mentioning Fisher, but we have three (young) MBs for the 2024 season, would we need another one? But with her experience and performance this year, adding a seasoned MB wouldn’t hurt either. She’ll be a Fleck 2.0 (in terms of going to a 3rd school to play). and the way their season is going, she may be the first premiere name in the portal.

Confirm me folks, the Fall 2024 volleyball season will be the last year for non-redshirt COVID bonus seniors, right? I’m pretty sure the freshmen class of 2020 is the last class for Covid19 consideration. None starting with the 2021 class. Aren't you saying the same thing. Freshman 2020 means 5th season ends Fall 2024 (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024)

Before we got Ames to flip, I was hoping we would maybe look at the MB from Florida State. Not sure if she has another year left but I know she's a senior and was (at one point) leading the nation in efficiency. Kiara Robey? she just transferred from Oregon

That’s not how things work. First of all, the portal doesn’t open and shut down on a certain date. It’s actually always active. The new windows (they were only implemented last year - the portal itself is only a few years old) allow for a waiver. If an undergrad enters the portal during the designated times they’re allowed a one time waiver where they do not have to sit out a season if they transfer. They can play right away. Waivers are granted for other reasons. If a player has already earned a degree they can transfer without sitting out a season. If their coach’s job status changes they can transfer without sitting out a season. If the NCAA grants a hardship waiver they can transfer without sitting out for a season. The NCAA used to hand out hardship waivers like candy on Halloween, but they’ve announced they’re not going to do that any more. Because Lauenstein officially withdrew from Nebraska, is no longer on scholarship, she also doesn’t have the same restrictions regarding visiting other schools that a scholarship player would. She can visit wherever she wants. That’s why a player like Morgan O’Brien was able to attend Texas, come out for practices, and eventually play for Texas while in grad school. She had to enter the portal right before she became a part of the team, but she was actually already enrolled at Texas by then. That’s why Jhenna Gabriel was able to become a volunteer coach at UNLV under Dawn Sullivan, and eventually became their starting setter. She eventually entered the portal to become part of the UNLV team, but that was after she had already been on campus for quite a while. Same thing with Lauenstein. She can visit campuses all she likes, but before she can be a part of a team she’ll enroll in the portal to make it official. But by then she’ll have made her decision and it will be simply a matter of following a procedure. None of this is to declare Lauenstein is for sure visiting Texas or when that will occur. I do believe Lauenstein is visiting Texas. IMO she’ll end up committing to come to Texas. Texas just doesn’t lose a lot of these. There are too many advantages compared to other programs. Texas will have an extremely compelling sales pitch to offer Lauenstein. But we’ll see. What I will say is that the December 3 date will have no bearing on her recruitment. She’s not a scholarship player. She’s not going to have to sit out a year regardless. Therefore the portal windows have no application to her. since lauenstein's situation is different (meaning she's not enrolled in college/not on scholarship), can lauenstein have contact with the texas coaching staff before entering the transfer portal? i thought a player still can't have contact with a coaching staff until they're in the transfer portal...just curious If she’s not on scholarship anywhere what would she be violating? She’s not under any agreement with anyone. It’s the same thing with O’Brien and Gabriel. If you’re not on scholarship with a school you can have contact with anyone you want.

Oh, wow, I just realized that she'll be on campus in like 2 months. . . Yeah, that had to be a hard decision. There is no doubt in my mind she had been thinking about it for a while, because that's how these things work, but to pull the trigger a week before signing day and two months before reporting to campus is huge. To all parties involved, really. But I'll tell you what. She's an answer to a huge need we had on the roster, and it's tough to imagine a more ideal solution.

Confused on why y’all want Sophie Fischer whenever we have 3 middles. Singletary has had O’Neal, Bergmark, and Caffey to look up to. Bunton has had Bergmark and O’Neal to look up to while at Texas. Is the philosophy to keep getting senior transfers while our freshman recruits sit on the bench till they’re seniors? Allick and Jackson are having phenomenal freshman seasons at Nebraska while they were middles. It’s possible to have young middles show success. Marianna has proven she can be a starter. Ames as well. Bunton has an amazing vertical as well.
