Very impressed with Courtney Thompson. She's as good a setter as I've seen in quite some time(I won't even rag on her about the headband).

I used to be a Bengals fan, until Brown drove the team into the ground.

Congrats to Candace Lee. Her 34 digs are a new semifinal record(the old record was 30).
Also, there's no way Christal Morrison is 6'2". She's gotta be closer to 6'3" if not 6'4". I mean she is at least 2 inches taller than Tomasevic, Hagerty and Myhre, at least.

UGH!! What a way to end a great season. I have total confidence that if we didn’t have a total meltdown at the end of game 3, we would have won this match.
Oh well, it was still an absolutely great super terrific season for Washington volleyball.

CONGRATULATIONS Stanford!!! They played at 2 a.m. according to Paris time. So when I woke up, I was hoping that they would win but deeply inside was a bit concern. Then I came here to check the results and saw that this match was a short match (only 4 pages long so far), I knew that Stanford must have won because based on previous matches, the posts were short (somehow not many Stanford fans). So I checked at Gostanford.com first before reading the post...and yes!, I am so excited that they won.
I thought the freshmen (and Suiter) might be nervours for their first final four match. But they did well. Thanks God they won the 3rd set.
I think Stanford team has really developed their mental toughness this year after being down so many times and keeping coming back. One more match to go. I don't want to be like 2002 when they lost in FF4 to USC. In that match, if they kept setting Nnamani instead of Tom, we would have won too! Oh well, it's a hindsight. Hmm, quite impressive considering Stanford team is the FINAL 3 out of the past 4 years (01, 02, 04) and got a sweet revenge from the team that took them out last year.

I thought Washington played like a team that was playing in their first Final Four appearance. Not a very good showing by Tomasevic IMO. Her defense was way off and she looked tentative. I dont' understand why Morrisson didn't get more front row action in place of Leck who added nothing. Morrisson may have started slowly but I thought she was really picking it up. I also don't think Candace had one of her stronger nights (despite breaking the dig record). She's usually more on target w/ her passes and her digs. I hope UW can keep a strong team going in the coming years now that they got some FF experience.

Anyone record the Stanford-Washington match? I asked my friends to do it and they failed. I would love a copy if anyone would be willing to make me one.
Thanks in advance.

Congratulations to the girls. It wasn't the prettiest of matches, but the girls pulled through.
I thought Udub had many mental errors. Kinda proves that the further you get in the big dance, experience counts more than athletic ability and raw talent.
Notice how Udub kept serving to Courtney & she would shank several serves-receive? She dug well at times, but it also seemed that she had Brynn running out of position as many times as well.
Ogonna was awesome and was the single biggest weapon for Stanford. But when she gets set 40% of the time, it becomes predictable. Stanford will have a better chance of winning on Saturday if the attack isn't so predictable.
It was fitting that the match ended with an Ogonna kill. Back-row attack against three blockers, & she still found the seam. udub did that all night against her, but she still pulled through for her team. Awesome performance.
GO STANFORD!

IF Crystal Morrison is healthy, Stanford does NOT win this match, but in this game that is part of the formula needed to win....you gotta have your key players 90 to 100% and Morrison was probably no more than 70% out there! It's a shame because if UW is healthy all season no one beats this team!

Furthermore, you can sum up Stanford's Offense very simply....."High and Outside". They had absolutely no middle attack tonight....if they don't get one Saturday, they are gonna end up like U$C!

Washington had a nice season, but you can't win the national title if you can't send a free ball over in bounds late in games. Not one, but TWO free ball errors at the very end of the tight third game? Ugh. I didn't think it was a great match; a lot of errors on both sides. Also, why did ESPN2 cut so much out of a four game match? Nothing against Ogonna, but wouldn't seeing more points have been better than an interview with her after the match? I guess it could have been an hour and a half, which would've been worse. I don't know how Stanford will do in the final. Will Ogonna pull a Logan and carry them? For all the talk about the need for a balanced offense, they won without one tonight. Kehoe is athletic, and she needed to be with all the poor passes and poorly controlled digs she needed to chase down. Still, the offense is mostly set it high to Nnamani when she is in the front and look for her in the back as well. That can definitely be effective (how did she hit a couple of those shots?), but it is predictable. Maybe Gentil can dig enough of those for Minnesota to win. Richards and Hucke really weren't on, and I haven't seen all that much from the Stanford middle attack the last three matches. They can run a variety of things, but they don't use it all that often and occasionally miss on their connections. I agree with the post that Stanford doesn't really wow you, apart from Nnamani. Richards can really cover a lot of ground defensively, and their block is solid, but they are just okay on defense and don't pass very well for a team that is going to play for the national title. I am a bit surprised that they don't have a libero who was recruited to play the position. Still, I said it last weekend, Ogonna is on a mission. I think the Gophers are better than Stanford in a lot of areas, but the team with the best player always has a chance to win. For all Gentil's greatness, I think the best player in the match at this point in the season is Nnamani, so it won't be easy for Minnesota. One bad sign for Stanford, though, is that Gordon's 44 kills and 19 digs still equalled a loss for her team. Kind of hard to top that performance.

Well, I opted to not listen or get on the computer till I finished watchin the match, an I am estatic. Never in my wildest dreams did I think the Stanford team would make it to the Final Four much less the Championship match. It wasn't pretty like many of you said and its true Stanford just had less mental errors. Why did Washington look so tired? Sanja looked absolutely drained. I'm really glad that Hucke and Richards turned it on in the crunch time. The thing that sticks out to me is Ogonna played great defense tonite, 21 digs. For all those who said she couldn't...lol. Well, there goes my bracket but at least Stanford is in the final match!

I was just thinking the same thing about OSU's 44 kill performace out of Gordon. I think Stanford might add a tougher block and better defense. Richards and Hucke will be the X factor. I think Hucke has been coming on strong lately. She's gotten some nice kills. I can't wait to see the Gentil/Nnamani match up. I wonder if she'll be harder to dig than Gordon. I think Gordon hits the ball harder and she's faster, but Ogonna has a higher trajectory which gives her way more area to work with.

And Stanford didn't need Pavan nor Stalls to get to the 2004 NCAA championship!
